00:00 What gives you confidence about this team going into the season?
00:03 I think it's truthfully in our preparation.
00:07 I'd say our preparation, Coach Lannan and Coach Taj and then on the offensive side Coach
00:12 Stein and Bo giving us a good look every day.
00:14 So I think just with the guys that we have in the team and having the facility, we're
00:17 getting the best looks at practice so it starts in the preparation.
00:20 Which of the offensive guys are you sick of hitting the most?
00:27 All of them.
00:28 I'd probably have to say all of them.
00:29 When does that set in during fall camp?
00:31 When are you typically like, "Okay, I'm ready to play the game right now"?
00:36 I think that starts in week one of fall camp.
00:39 You've seen the same people in spring, you've seen the same people in walk-throughs and
00:43 stuff like that.
00:44 Fall camp, you're slowly easing up to the game and it's finally game week so I think
00:48 we're all ready to go.
00:49 Coach Taj talked about week one, there's always a lot of mistakes.
00:53 It's the first game of the season.
00:55 How do you quantify a clean game for you guys defensively?
00:59 That's something that we've been trying to play the game before we can play the game.
01:02 So that's something that we focus on in practice again.
01:05 Focusing on takeaways because takeaways are going to be a major thing in week one.
01:12 On the offensive side, the offense just has to protect the ball and on the defensive side,
01:14 we have to take the ball away.
01:15 You've been a full fall camp now, is that a way to feel like it's up to you in ways
01:16 that you thought it would?
01:17 Oh yeah, for sure, 100%.
01:18 Specifically, how does that help you in the fall?
01:19 How does this transform your game?
01:20 Adding more physicality to my game because last year I'm a speedy guy so speed and physicality
01:37 is dangerous.
01:38 Do you feel like you've hit the same speed as well?
01:39 Yeah, I feel like I even got faster to be honest.
01:40 So the fastest guy in the linebacker?
01:41 Yeah, Devin Jackson, I would say so.
01:43 What's the early scout on, I guess not that early now, but on Portland State and their
01:52 offense and what do they do well?
01:56 Yeah, very explosive offense.
01:57 You know, quarterback, that's going to be back there.
01:58 He's going to look to pass but he's also going to look to run.
01:59 You know, a 4-4 guy so we've got to make sure we've got eyes on him as well.
02:00 So yeah, they've got some playmakers so we've just got to make sure that we're keeping a
02:01 roof back there in the back end but we're going to be looking to run.
02:02 So yeah, I think that's the early scout.
02:03 What's the early scout on the offense?
02:04 I think it's going to be a lot of the guys that are going to be coming in and trying
02:05 to get the ball away from the defense.
02:06 You know, they've got some playmakers so we've just got to make sure that we're keeping
02:10 a roof back there in the back end but also rushing the passer up front.
