00:00 India has finally achieved what no other nations have.
00:26 The third lunar mission of India made a successful historic landing on the southern polar region
00:31 of the lunar surface just a while back.
00:34 With this momentous and successful landing, India has now become the first country in
00:38 the world to have soft landed on the moon's southern polar region.
00:42 This is also the first time that a rover has been deployed in the southern pole of the
00:46 lunar region.
00:47 The entire country is beaming with pride and jubilation post this tremendous feat by ISRO.
00:53 No human missions so far, including the human moon missions of the United States, have been
00:58 able to take any spacecraft to the moon's south pole.
01:02 Previous moon landings have primarily occurred in the equatorial region with only a few degrees
01:06 of latitude north or south of the lunar equator.
01:09 In fact, just a few days back, the Lunar 25 spacecraft of Russia had failed to achieve
01:15 soft landing on the moon due to a technical glitch and had eventually crashed.
01:19 Earlier, ISRO Chairman S Somnath had said that Vikram, the lander, will be able to make
01:24 a soft landing on the moon's surface even if all the sensors and two of its engines
01:29 did not work and that the entire design of the lander was made in a manner that made
01:34 sure it would be able to handle failures.
01:38 During the final moments, as the country was just minutes away from achieving this feat,
01:42 another history was made as Chandrayaan-3's live stream broke world record of Spanish
01:47 streamer Ibai of 3.4 million viewers.
01:51 At 5.53 pm Indian Standard Time, more than 5.6 million viewers were watching Chandrayaan-3's
01:57 soft landing live stream on ISRO's official YouTube channel.
02:01 This soft landing is a major victory for India and ISRO and a testament to ISRO's abilities
02:06 for executing extremely complicated projects.
