00:14 I am the CEO of the Sinimulanong Bureau of Corrections,
00:17 and we are the RISE Project, or Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security,
00:23 here in Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
00:27 The program will be supported by the Department of Agriculture and several private partners,
00:31 PDLs, who bought, sold, and used for farming and agriculture.
00:37 PDLs will plant and grow high-value crops,
00:41 and will also take care of animals and fish here in the extra-hectare land of Iwahig.
00:47 According to the Director General, Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr.,
00:50 this is a step towards the self-sustainability of prisons.
00:54 If the daily allowance of PBLs to plant their own food is increased by P70,
00:59 the penal farms of the country will be better.
01:04 If the production is increased, even in prison,
01:08 the benefits of the members of society will be shown.
01:12 This is a big step for the food security of the country.
01:15 PDLs have been planting and taking care of animals here in Iwahig for a long time.
