00:00 And there's no stopping P-Pop giants SB19 for making the headlines.
00:03 They're currently out of the country for a tour, but they keep their fans excited
00:07 by releasing a new remix of American singer-songwriter Jake's hit song "Golden Hour."
00:13 The collaboration between the artists was released last month and I got to speak with both
00:18 Jake and SB19 via Zoom and they told me how the collab came to be
00:23 and what it was like working with each other.
00:26 With "Golden Hour," we had started trying out just different collaborations with people
00:32 from different countries and we had done some research to see who the fans loved in the
00:38 Philippines and it was always SB19, SB19.
00:42 And so, yeah, we knew we got to reach out to these guys.
00:46 And then I heard their music and seeing their performances, really such an impressive group
00:52 of guys.
00:52 And yeah, we were just so excited hoping to collab with them and they said yes and it
00:57 all worked out.
00:58 It was amazing.
00:58 Okay, so since this is your song, what ideas did you have for the collaboration of SB19?
01:05 I mean, they did theirs in Tagalog and it is not a direct translation of your song.
01:11 Was this what you had in mind or did you talk about it and say, "How are we going to handle
01:16 this?"
01:17 Yeah, no, I always love to hear my song in different languages and hearing different
01:23 languages on the instrumental.
01:24 It allows you to see the music in a different light and so that was so cool with me and
01:33 I loved how it came out.
01:34 It was really amazing.
01:35 And I saw the TikTok that you did with the globe and then, of course, SB19 coming out
01:41 and singing their amazing part.
01:43 How do you feel, SB19?
01:45 I have some amazing voices so I reached out and they said yes.
01:48 We're very happy, of course, and we're very grateful that Jake and Jake's team chosen
01:55 us for this collaboration.
01:56 It's a big opportunity for every one of us and yeah, we are really grateful for everything.
02:04 So SB, how did you think of putting in Tagalog?
02:08 Was that always your intention or were you going to make it like a Taglish bit?
02:14 So for our first international collaboration, we definitely would like to put the beautiful
02:21 Filipino language in there so that's why we decided to write it in Filipino.
02:25 I mean, it came out well.
02:28 I mean, it's like it was a perfect fit for both of you.
02:32 Any future collaborations?
02:35 Have you guys met in person?
02:37 No, not yet.
02:41 We're both busy on tour so hopefully in the next coming months or maybe next year, we
02:46 get to see each other.
02:47 Well, we do hope to have you, Jake.
02:50 Any plans of visiting us here in the Philippines?
02:52 Yeah, I was saying right after my US tour, you know, my plans are opened up a bit and
02:58 so yeah, the Philippines is right on the top of the list.
03:01 If I'm going to travel, I want to meet my Filipino fans and obviously meet SB19.
03:06 That would be so sick.
03:08 I mean, that would be amazing.
03:10 So Jake, before I let you go, this was part of your debut album, Golden Hour.
03:15 What's next for you?
03:16 Are you preparing for another album?
03:18 I know you're busy right now on tour.
03:20 What can we expect from you?
03:22 Yeah, no, I'm just right now finishing up this tour and I've been writing a lot of
03:28 music even on the tour and so yeah, I'm excited to release some new music and yeah, really
03:34 just excited to see what people think and yeah, I just love music so that's what I'm
03:38 most excited for.
03:39 I mean, you've come a long way from 2020 and here you are, you know, doing tours and
03:44 whatnot, collaborations from all over the world.
03:46 You have Charlie Puth, Jimin and whatnot, I mean, in part of your long list of collabs.
03:53 SB19 on tour as well in the US, your second headline tour, you know, how has it been so
04:00 far?
04:01 10 cities, right?
04:02 Yes, we're halfway done.
04:06 Yeah, we're halfway done.
04:07 We're done with the US tour now.
04:08 Very excited to explore the world.
04:12 And of course, your fans are excited as well, ATIN.
04:16 Congratulations to your fans as well for the all-out support.
04:22 Yes, that's right.
04:25 Thank you, thank you so much ATIN for voting SB19.
04:30 The dedication of these fandom is unmatched.
04:36 We are not the biggest but we are the most dedicated.
04:39 So thank you, thank you for that.
04:40 This will open more opportunities for SB19, for ATIN and for Filipinos all over.
04:46 And of course, since ATIN is a big fan of SB19, a big fan of Jake as well.
04:53 So your fan base, Jake, has just gotten so much bigger.
04:57 Before, we'll say goodbye right now but do thank, you know, your Filipino fans, SB19
05:03 and, you know, we hope to have you here in the Philippines.
05:06 Final words.
05:06 Yeah, no, I'm just, you know, shout out to my Filipino fans.
05:11 I always see, you know, in the analytics, you guys are always, you know, so supportive.
05:16 And yeah, just it was so overjoyed when I heard SB19 remix.
05:21 It sounded so great.
05:22 And yeah, we definitely will have to collab again in the future.
05:26 Okay, wonderful.
05:26 Thank you so much, Jake, for joining us.
05:28 SB19, maraming salamat din sa inyo.
05:31 And we hope to have you in the studio when you get back home.
05:33 All the best to both of you in your current tours.
05:37 Thank you.
