00:00 00;01;10;00 00;01;14;00 I found this little car on eBay.
00:05 I never would have thought it would have turned out this way.
00:08 00;01;14;00 00;01;17;00 I've never seen another Maverick quite like this one.
00:12 00;01;17;00 00;01;22;00 I've owned probably over 200 or 300 cars.
00:20 To me, hot rodding is old school and new school.
00:23 I love and enjoy the things I grew up with.
00:25 00;01;22;00 00;01;28;00 And this 1971 Ford is the perfect blend of past and present.
00:31 00;01;28;00 00;01;33;00 You're taking something and making it your own.
00:35 It's a Maverick.
00:36 I mean, when's the last time you saw a Maverick done?
00:38 00;01;33;00 00;01;37;00 I've never seen another Maverick quite like this one.
00:41 It started out probably about five or six years ago.
00:45 I found this little car on eBay, and then I got to thinking, I've always wanted to run
00:49 200 miles an hour.
00:50 So I said, let's build a car that would do that.
00:53 To make his dream reality, Jimmy employed the services of father and son duo Greenin.
00:59 00;01;37;00 00;01;50;00 This Maverick ranks very high with all the builds that we've done
01:04 over the years.
01:05 On this car, comparing it to the original, from the fender flares up on the car is basically
01:11 untouched Ford sheet metal and trim around the top.
01:14 The lines looked great, and we still wanted people to be able to recognize the car and
01:19 it not look like something else.
01:20 We still wanted it to be a Maverick.
01:22 And from there down, it's all been heavily modified.
01:26 Probably the best part about the car to me is the flares on the fenders.
01:29 It looks so good.
01:30 It's not out of place.
01:31 It doesn't look gawky, and it's a simple change.
01:34 Today, the Maverick's at the Good Guy Show in Columbus, Ohio.
01:39 Inside, we have the race pack for your speedometer, all your gauges.
01:44 We have the race seats.
01:45 We have the roll cage.
01:47 To be safe, we have quarter-inch metal that's been able to make the tone.
01:52 That way, we have a transmission explosion, drive shaft come loose.
01:56 I'm safe in the car.
01:57 I'm too old to have problems.
02:00 The car's top speed so far has been 202.7 mile an hour.
02:05 This one has just kind of been nudged out there a little farther as far as what it can
02:09 do.
02:10 Nudged out, you say?
02:12 I think that may be somewhat of an understatement.
02:22 They going to judge it on how the handle's out there on the course.
02:27 They want you to drive the cars.
02:34 They want you to use it and abuse it.
02:47 And Jimmy loves showing off his unique machine.
02:52 Oh man, we've had so many compliments.
02:55 You still have a lot of people come and say, "What is that?"
02:57 You know, they don't realize it's a Maverick.
02:59 They're kind of like, "Man, no one's ever done a Maverick like this before."
03:02 He made a car perform and look good at the same time.
03:05 His build qualities are phenomenal.
03:07 His attention to detail is unmatched.
03:09 And the car goes over 200 miles an hour.
03:11 So I mean, not a lot of people can say that with a build like that.
03:15 This car is right there at the top of my list of all my cars right now.
03:19 Just so different.
03:20 This is something that I never would have thought it would have turned out this way.
