00:03 These are some of the reasons why motorcycle taxis are being recommended as legal.

00:09 They are only allowed as part of the education.

00:13 But some are afraid.

00:15 And this is what Tina Pangliman Perez is talking about.

00:18 In 2019, the Congress and the Department of Transportation

00:25 passed a law to study whether motorcycle taxis should be legal.

00:29 A while ago, a group of students recommended a study.

00:32 Thousands of riders are now affected by the pilot study

00:46 conducted in Metro Manila, Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro City.

00:50 Three TNVS are involved in the vetting process for the study.

00:55 The pilot study showed that motorcycle taxis are well-paid.

00:59 A part-time rider earns Php 9,000 per month

01:03 while a full-time rider earns Php 41,000.

01:07 Motorcycle taxis are also well-paid.

01:09 They also have insurance for riders and passengers.

01:13 As to the crash report, it is less than 1%.

01:17 But when an accident happens, sometimes it tends to be fatal

01:21 especially when they are on the side swiping.

01:24 But a former Congressman's point of view,

01:27 "Passengers are stealing long rides.

01:31 In my province, it is allowed.

01:33 But not in Metro Manila because there are a lot of tricycles and jeeps in Metro Manila."

01:38 "We are not against motorcycle taxis.

01:41 We are just asking for the right amount

01:45 because if not, we will really die."

01:48 "It's now up for the House of Representatives to determine

01:52 if you should legalize this or not."

01:55 Multihoming was also discussed

01:57 or becoming a rider in more than one ride-hailing company

02:01 that is allowed for now.

02:03 "Which company is liable if the rider has an accident?"

02:06 "Our subsequent memorandum of prohibition should be
