The Airstream Basecamp 20X has an eco-friendly design, REI accessories and enough capability to embark on an extraordinary adventure.
The new travel trailer is an evolution of the existing Basecamp 16 REI Edition and is 4 feet taller. That doesn't seem like much of a change, but the new model is family-friendly as it sleeps up to four people.
This is twice the size of Basecamp 16, and that's because of a renovated floor plan that includes a large front dining room that can be converted into a bed. Another convertible seating area is located in the rear, but the wrap-around front seat looks much more inviting.
The remaining eco-friendly special edition features "fabrics and laminates made from post-consumption recycled materials." Highlights include sustainably grown wood cabinets and a cutting board sink cover made from recycled paper.
Other features include a water heater, a UV water purification system, and a built-in floor cooler with drainage. They are combined with a two-burner stove, a stainless steel sink and a full wet bath. The model also comes with a 25-piece REI Co-op kit that includes "essentials like dishes, flatware, storage cubes and more." This is on top of REI-specific touches, including spruce green highlights and custom branding.

Pricing starts at $62,400, which is only $9,500 more than the smaller 16-foot model. The REI Co-op Special Edition Basecamp 20X also weighs 3,500 pounds (1,588 kg), so it's light enough to be towed by small pickups and SUVs.
