00:00 Putin's war in Ukraine has not gone according to plan for the Russian leader, and reports
00:04 indicate it's becoming increasingly unpopular even amongst his own people.
00:08 Now, according to Russia's Duma Defense Committee, Vladimir Putin is putting together a network
00:13 of private military companies all over Russia, all in the hopes of sequestering any threats
00:18 which might come from inside his own country.
00:20 Just a few weeks ago, paramilitary organization the Wagner Group, which had been a critical
00:24 arm of Russia's advance in Ukraine, turned on Putin.
00:27 They eventually marched on Moscow, but the organization's leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin,
00:32 eventually brokered a deal with Putin, and was not punished for turning on his country.
00:36 In response, the Russian president opened up inquiries looking for traitors in his own
00:40 military.
00:41 Now, he is apparently building his own private regional armies to act in his interests.
00:46 Each of these private armies is expected to be operated by regional governors, who are
00:50 no doubt allegiant to Putin, with an express duty to, quote, "protect the state border,
00:55 fight illegal armed groups, and combat foreign sabotage and intelligence formations."
00:59 Former intelligence officials told Insider at the beginning of the summer that if Putin
01:03 loses Ukraine, there's a high probability he would also lose his presidency in Russia.
