The recent surge in dengue cases globally, including in new regions has been alarming and poses significant global health challenges. The World Health Organisation (WHO) forecasts the possibility of record-level cases this year due to global warming favouring disease-transmitting mosquitoes. Meanwhile, Delhi has been recording the highest number of dengue cases putting the national capital, which battled flood like situation due to overflowing Yamuna a couple of weeks ago, into another state of distress. Delhi, according to reports, recorded a total of 187 cases were reported till 22 July – the highest for the period since 2018.
