00:00 This week's an important week for the game. We launch our first ever umpire education
00:06 program and with that we're training our first cohort of umpire master educators.
00:13 So the very strong feedback we receive from our members is that in order to improve the
00:20 playing experience not only do we need more and better quality coaches but we need to
00:24 improve the number and quality of umpires around the world.
00:28 The master educator program is fantastic in growing the game holistically because we've
00:32 got people who are developing their confidence to help people who then go and help lots of
00:36 people who then go and help thousands of people. So we've got this layered effect where the
00:40 confidence in the experience that we're providing is growing everybody's opportunity to actually
00:46 learn cricket and then become competent and connected within the game and therefore stay
00:50 in the game and have fun.
00:57 We use the analogy that the trains left the platform here and we're on an amazing journey
01:01 with this group. From the start of day one to where they are today we've seen some exponential
01:07 growth in the group in terms of understanding the role that they're going to play as a master
01:10 educator but the opportunity that they have as well in this space and it's stepping out
01:15 of their day to day role and actually thinking about how they continue to support others
01:18 in their own development and build I guess a really strong network of great umpire developers
01:24 across cricket.
01:25 We've got umpires that some of us have worked together, some of us haven't and so to be
01:32 able to get in the same room together and talk umpiring and talk about how we're going
01:37 to share umpiring with our regions I think has been really exciting.
01:43 So at the end of this week we will have trained and accredited 18 master educators, the first
01:47 ever cohort of umpire master educators for the ICC. 11 men, 7 women and that's important
01:54 for our strategic objective of increasing access to the game for women and girls in
01:58 particular.
01:59 Umpiring is for everybody so there definitely needs to be more females involved in cricket
02:03 in every level whether that's playing, officiating, administrating, coaching. It can't be what
02:07 you can't see so to get more in the room and more around the table having the conversation
02:11 is always really good.
02:14 By training a global workforce of master educators we are then able to ensure that every member
02:23 is able to train a local workforce of trainers that allows them to deliver the ICC coach
02:29 and umpire education program as and when they need it.
02:35 These courses, this program, critical to growing the game and keeping up with the opportunity
02:39 for so many more people to have a great experience in cricket.
