00:00 What I wanted to do is I wanted to show everyone how I make my little flowers out of fondant.
00:13 Some people love making their flowers or roses from icing which is wonderful.
00:19 They come out beautiful.
00:20 But sometimes I don't feel like doing them with icing so I'll take out my fondant and
00:24 work with it.
00:26 I do have a very good recipe for my fondant.
00:30 If you need one please let me know.
00:33 I have it already posted there but if you don't see it just let me know I'll repost
00:37 it.
00:38 What I did I had of course when you make your fondant it's normally white.
00:42 You can use any kind of food coloring from the grocery store or Wilton's.
00:46 Whatever your preference.
00:49 But I usually use the ones from the grocery stores and put a little color in.
00:54 Here you go that creates that.
00:56 So I also want to let you know some people when they make the fondant and they store
01:00 it in little bags or containers it gets really really hard and it's going to be very hard
01:05 for you to work with it.
01:06 So what I normally tell everybody is if that happens to you get the amount that you want.
01:12 Don't put the whole thing.
01:13 If you're going to work maybe make 4 or 5 flowers.
01:16 Just get enough with yours.
01:17 Put it in your hands and then kind of measure it.
01:21 Put it in a little bag like this and put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds.
01:25 You are trying to get it soft but you're not trying to melt it okay because if you get
01:29 it too too hot it's not going to work for you.
01:32 So I went ahead and popped mine in the microwave just for a second because I want to make it
01:36 soft like this.
01:38 And what I normally do is again this is how I do it.
01:41 People do it different ways.
01:42 Some people use cookie cutters and stuff.
01:44 But this is what I do.
01:46 I randomly get little pieces with my hands and I'll just go ahead and start throwing
01:51 them in some wax paper.
01:53 Nothing more than wax paper here.
01:59 As you can already begin to see that as I'm cutting them I'm not being particular with
02:04 the sizes right now.
02:05 I don't really care.
02:07 You can make 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
02:10 It doesn't matter how many pieces you think you might need because the way you're going
02:14 to find out is once you make them a couple of times you'll figure out what works best
02:18 for you.
02:19 So I got me some plastic here because my table is kind of missing.
02:23 I'm going to transfer them here.
02:27 And I'm going to get my very first one.
02:29 What you do is you roll it in a little bitty ball like that.
02:32 See nothing major okay.
02:34 You get your wax paper.
02:35 It's a good idea that you get it and you fold it in half.
02:39 It doesn't have to be perfect.
02:41 Put it in the center.
02:42 Close your wax paper and start pressing it down with your fingers.
02:47 Now what I normally do is that I like to press the ends a little bit to make them a little
02:54 bit thinner than the body of the petal.
02:59 So here you go.
03:03 Open it up and release it from the wax paper very carefully.
03:08 Hopefully you can see it's not super super thin but that will work.
03:13 I'll be right back.
03:14 What I'm going to do is I'm going to get these right here and I'm going to make them exactly
03:18 like that okay.
03:32 Okay so I've already went ahead and made my little petals.
03:36 They're not super thin.
03:39 I probably could have pressed them a little bit more but that's alright.
03:43 The next thing I did I got me a little bitty pinch of some fondant and what I normally
03:50 do is just make a little circle with my fingers.
03:53 See how small it is.
03:55 And then I get my finger and I roll it back and forth to create a tear drop.
04:01 There's my tear drop.
04:03 Now with my tear drop, now this is a step you don't have to take.
04:06 Some people I've seen all over YouTube they don't do it.
04:09 I do it.
04:10 I don't know I just think it looks cute.
04:12 What I do is I put this right in the tip or the edge of my fondant and then I gently gently
04:20 start closing it like this.
04:24 Now do you have to do it?
04:26 No.
04:27 Everybody will have a different way of doing it.
04:30 You can even close it in the top.
04:33 It's just the way you want to design it.
04:35 So that's going to be my beginning right there.
04:38 I'm going to pick up one of these little petals and I'm going to go from the bottom and I'm
04:44 going to go ahead and put my finger right here.
04:47 Not all the way to the top just right here.
04:50 And I'm going to begin to, I'm going to stretch this a little bit and I'm going to begin to
04:53 roll it very carefully.
04:55 There you go.
04:58 It doesn't look like much.
05:00 You can manipulate it with your fingers and go back and forth.
05:03 It doesn't matter.
05:04 Whatever you want to do.
05:06 Do another one.
05:07 Now because I think I made this very high I'm going to go ahead and exaggerate it and
05:11 I'm going to go ahead and put it just a little bit higher.
05:14 I think that will probably look better.
05:16 I don't know.
05:17 What do you think?
05:19 Maybe?
05:20 There it is.
05:21 So let's pick up another one.
05:25 And I also want to let you know some people they start it with a line but I don't think
05:30 for me it doesn't look right.
05:31 What I do is I see the line and I automatically go a little bit further back.
05:35 So I'm going to go back, hold it with my finger and I'm going to push it just a little bit
05:42 forward just as I roll it.
05:45 Okay.
05:46 Let's pick up another one.
05:51 Again there's my line.
05:52 I'm going to go a little bit further back and starting, I'm not, as you notice I don't
05:56 touch the top.
05:57 I'm working with the bottom.
05:59 So here's, I put this one aside.
06:03 See my finger is going to go down here and this one is going to hold the other end and
06:07 I'm going to go ahead and turn it.
06:15 Let's get another one.
06:17 Doing the same thing.
06:18 Going a little bit further back and just turning it with my hands.
06:24 Hopefully the camera will be able to pick it up.
06:28 I don't know because I'm recording myself so it's kind of hard to see what I'm doing
06:31 here.
06:32 So here's another part.
06:33 Now you notice when you pick up your rows, you know automatically it doesn't look right.
06:39 It needs one here, it needs one here.
06:40 So let's go ahead and put one in between here.
06:43 Again, I hold it with my finger here and I get it from the bottom and all I'm doing is
06:49 turning it.
06:52 And then before you're through with it, you might want to keep playing with it, maybe
06:57 even pressing it a little bit more.
06:59 See kind of give it your own volume to it.
07:01 That's all I'm doing.
07:04 Going to get another one and I'm going to turn it.
07:11 Not perfect, but there is no roses that is perfect.
07:14 They're beautiful but they're not perfect.
07:16 You want to make them original.
07:18 At least I do.
07:19 That's how I like to do them.
07:21 I put it aside from the bottom and I start turning it.
07:26 Let's see how it's coming out.
07:30 I think it's coming out pretty darn good.
07:33 Let's get another one.
07:35 Again with these rose petals, you can put as many as you want.
07:37 Some people make them larger or bigger than this and the reason for that is because they
07:42 want the end to start going out this way.
07:45 But you know, it's whatever you want to do with the flowers.
07:48 It's kind of hard to decide what you want to do until you start doing it.
07:53 And here you go.
07:54 I think what I'm going to do is concentrate on putting a couple more right here.
07:57 I've got three left.
07:58 Let's see what we can do.
08:00 Put it from here and holding it from the bottom.
08:06 I think I'm okay with that.
08:08 Here's my first rose.
08:11 Again it's whatever you decide.
08:15 When you're done it's okay for you to get your fingers.
08:18 What I do is I just roll it real gently in the bottom.
08:21 I can start putting, if I make maybe like ten of these I can put them and sit them in
08:25 my top of my cake if I make a three tier cake.
08:30 I'm not sure if I have some little dust powder they call it.
08:35 Disco dust.
08:36 I don't know.
08:37 I had it yesterday when I was making my video and I don't know where I put it.
08:40 But they have little bottles like this.
08:43 And they come in different colors.
08:45 Some people what they do is after they make their little rose they'll open the bottle
08:50 and they'll sprinkle just a little bit on it.
08:52 And then the reason for that is because they look kind of like shimmer or shine.
08:55 I'm not sure what it's called.
08:57 And it really really looks elegant.
08:59 So here it is.
09:00 Here's the rose.
09:01 I hope you like it.
09:02 If you have any questions just let me know.
09:05 Just remember to enjoy yourself.
09:07 Have fun when you're creating stuff.
09:09 Don't get stressed out and say oh this is too hard I can't do it or I need to go out
09:12 and buy this tool.
09:13 No you don't.
09:14 The more you play with it the better it gets and it'll start forming.
09:19 Before you know it you'll not only make flowers you'll be able to make little figurines and
09:23 do so many things.
09:25 So if you have any questions or you are not sure how to make the fondant or something
09:30 just let me know and I'll get back with you as fast as I can and I'll do my best to help
09:37 you okay.
09:38 God bless everyone and thank you for viewing.
