00:00 Coffee break with me.
00:01 Hi guys.
00:02 Welcome back to my channel.
00:03 How are you today?
00:04 Today I'm here with a is it worth the hype video on the Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner.
00:14 I got the big daddy size.
00:15 So I have been to two beauty conventions.
00:18 I went to the makeup show here in Dallas and I've gone to IMATS in New York.
00:22 And every time that I go to a beauty convention or I see anything about beauty conventions,
00:27 I notice this giant blue jug sitting on tables.
00:32 And I always was very curious to try it because I love to have clean brushes and makeup tools.
00:40 I love to have clean ones.
00:41 I don't like to actually clean them, but I like to make sure that they're clean.
00:46 There's nothing better for me than to get like a brand new, I'm trying to find one right
00:51 now and I really can't, than to get a brand new, crisp, clean, delicious, good smelling
00:57 brush that I just washed or I just cleaned.
00:59 And so I'm always looking for different alternatives or options.
01:04 So my go to way to cleaning my makeup brushes is with the same facial cleanser that I use,
01:09 my Purity soap and my Sigma mat.
01:14 I just take them to the sink and scrub them away.
01:17 But I don't always have time to let them dry because they take a really long time to dry.
01:27 I mean the smallest brush will take at least a couple hours and sometimes I don't have
01:31 the time to do that.
01:33 Another thing that I was using is I was spraying them with like a daily brush spray, like the
01:38 Sephora one.
01:39 Spray it or you spray a paper towel and you wipe it.
01:42 But I noticed that it really dries out the bristles of my brushes.
01:47 Synthetic or not, it will dry them out.
01:49 It makes them slightly brittle and the natural haired bristles, I noticed that they kind
01:54 of snap a little bit.
01:56 Like the hair shaft will start to snap if you use it very often.
02:00 So when I heard about Cinema Secrets, I was like, "There is no way that this is a no rinse
02:11 brush cleanser."
02:13 Basically what it does is it washes it and you don't need to rinse it.
02:19 And I know that if you're like me and your mind that's a little bit unsettling, you're
02:24 like, "Oh, that's kind of gross, isn't it?"
02:28 And so I was like, "Okay, well, I mean as gross as it is, no one else is using these
02:33 makeup brushes except me.
02:36 And if makeup artists that touch a hundred people's faces use this on all of their clients,
02:43 I mean what the heck am I complaining about, right?"
02:45 So I thought I would try it.
02:48 I was like, "Okay, I'm going to try it.
02:50 I'm probably going to hate it, but I'll feel more comfortable knowing and saying that I
02:56 hated it because I tried it than I hated it without even trying it."
03:00 You know like when you say, "Oh, I don't like lamb, but you've never actually tried lamb."
03:07 I didn't want it to be one of those situations.
03:08 So I was like, "I'm going to try it.
03:10 I'm going to buy it.
03:11 I'm going to like ... I don't know why I got the giant size."
03:13 I guess I was hoping deep down inside that I would love it, and I'm really glad that
03:19 I bought the giant size.
03:21 So the way that Cinema Secrets works, and I'm going to insert a demo so that you guys
03:26 can see firsthand how it actually works.
03:29 The way Cinema Secrets works is by capillary action, and this is where I'm going to jump
03:33 into nerd mode and kind of give you guys a little science lesson.
03:38 So the way capillary action works is it's a solid and a liquid, and what happens is
03:44 they form almost an attraction to each other.
03:47 So when you dip the brush a quarter of the way into the liquid, it's going to create
03:52 an attraction between the liquid, which is the Cinema Secrets, and the solid, which are
03:57 the bristles, and it's going to cling to it, and then the molecules of the Cinema Secrets
04:03 will bond together.
04:05 So it's almost like they're holding hands and pulling each other up onto the brush.
04:10 So you don't have to dip your brush into the liquid.
04:13 You just have to stick the very little tip into it, and then pull it out and rub it on
04:20 a microfiber or any type of lint-less, matte cloth, paper towel, anything that doesn't
04:29 have lint or fuzz on it.
04:30 So you're just going to dip the little tip into it.
04:33 The capillary action will jump into play, soak up some of the liquid, you rotate it
04:38 onto a microfiber cloth, and then if you see that there's still a little bit of color coming
04:43 out, go right back in, same thing, just the very tip, and then rotate it around and you're
04:47 done.
04:48 You lay them flat to dry, and they're clean.
04:52 They're sanitary, they're clean, there's no color transfer, it's absolutely amazing.
04:57 One thing I will tell you though is that it does have alcohol, so it's still going to
05:04 dry out your brushes a little bit, but it also has a conditioner for the brushes, so
05:09 it's a lot better than using the daily spray cleansers that just make them smell good and
05:17 take off the color.
05:18 So this one actually sanitizes them.
05:20 Another warning, or word of warning, if you don't like stuff that smells, this smells
05:26 really strong, I mean strong, like have you guys ever made like a vanilla extract where
05:34 you take a vanilla bean and you soak it in vodka?
05:37 It's strong.
05:39 It smells like a vanilla schnapps.
05:42 It's super strong.
05:44 But once you wipe your brushes clean, it just leaves them smelling a little bit pleasant,
05:48 but it doesn't linger.
05:49 The scent goes away right away.
05:51 So all in all, it's definitely worth the hype.
05:53 It is Coffee Break approved.
05:54 I do love it, and you can tell because I've already used half of the bottle.
05:58 The one downside that I would say is even though this product claims to clean all types
06:04 of powder, creams, liquids, waxes, I feel like it never cleans your brushes as clean
06:15 as they could be when you're using like a liquid liner, or a glitter, or a cream base,
06:22 a concealer.
06:24 Anytime that I try to clean a brush that I've used a cream type product with, I feel like
06:30 it doesn't clean it as well as when I washed them with soap and water.
06:35 It doesn't, I feel like there's always like a little residue left behind.
06:39 So when it comes to powders, I mean this little guy, this sucker is amazing.
06:45 It cleans it boom, boom.
06:46 You could see in the demo, it just comes off right away.
06:48 But when it comes to cream products, especially like concealer, I use a synthetic brush.
06:54 Let me get that.
06:56 I use a synthetic Real Techniques brush for the salmon shade concealer that I use in like
07:02 the deepest, darkest area of my panda eyes.
07:06 And when I try to use a Cinema Secrets, it just, it doesn't clean it as well.
07:10 You could even tell like the liquid that's left behind, it's almost like greasy.
07:15 So I just have to throw it away and start all over.
07:17 But if you were curious about Cinema Secrets, if it works, if it's sanitary, what the hype
07:21 is all about, it's definitely worth the hype.
07:23 It's definitely a product that you want to have or at least try if you're really, really,
07:30 really into beauty products and stuff.
07:34 You know, or if you're a makeup artist or if you're barely starting your kit or if you're
07:39 someone that doesn't have a lot of brushes.
07:42 I know when I got started on YouTube, I had like five makeup brushes in total.
07:48 And so when I wanted to use a different eyeshadow palette or a different color, I didn't have
07:54 this.
07:55 And this could have easily been like my way of switching between colors or when I forgot
08:00 to wash my brushes, this could have been my easy solution.
08:03 Because this guy dries hella fast.
08:06 I mean, you could do it and in five minutes, it's ready to go.
08:09 It evaporates right away.
08:11 And I know that it's evaporating because I've left a little bit of liquid in the plate when
08:15 I'm done cleaning.
08:17 And when I leave and come back, it's gone.
08:19 It completely evaporates.
08:20 So your brushes dry just as quickly.
08:23 Like in all of my videos, I'm going to leave the price and a link for this product in the
08:27 description box below.
08:29 I got mine from Sephora, but I know that some other beauty retailers carry this as well.
08:33 So I will leave all that information listed in the description box below, along with the
08:38 details of what I'm wearing and a tutorial on this look.
08:41 I really hope you guys enjoyed this video.
08:43 Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
08:44 And as always, if you found this video useful, entertaining, or learn something, please give
08:48 me a thumbs up or subscribe if you haven't already.
08:51 And until next time, this coffee break is over.
08:53 Bye, guys.
