00:00 Hey there, Julie Graham. This is Julie Graham on Instagram or @fitfabfaithmom on Instagram

00:16 I have both personal and a like page. So today I'm going to show you how I apply my basic makeup.
00:22 You may notice that I already have my eyeshadow done. I just did that on my last broadcast so
00:27 you'll want to catch that. My number one tip for makeup application is to do your eyes first and
00:32 then apply your foundation, your concealer, you know any bronzer, blush that you're going to wear.
00:38 So my eyes are already done. You'll have to catch the broadcast for that. So the first thing I'm
00:45 going to do is apply my under eye concealer. So I use a lot of basic cheap makeup because I'm a
00:57 budget mama. So this is just ELF and it's a combination of highlighter and concealer which
01:02 I actually really like. On days that I have my full amount of time to do my makeup I use both
01:07 the highlighter and concealer. You may hear my child crying in the background. He is being pushed
01:12 for his nap so we're going to do the basic application without the highlighter. So I'm
01:16 using this fair color because I'm fair skinned, light skinned and so this is I think a dollar at
01:24 Target. So I'm just coming underneath the eye and I'm doing a little bit of a triangle and I do put
01:33 my brush in both times. Make sure there's a good amount of paint, paint concealer for both eyes.
01:41 I also do a little bit down the bridge of my nose which really I would do with the highlighter. I
01:50 know I'll go ahead and show you. So I use highlighter down the center of my nose. That's
01:54 a little bit of a contouring trick. I have a larger nose so I do like to use some highlighter
02:00 to tone it down, take some attention away from it. I'm also using highlighter across the top of my
02:05 forehead. Again this is highlighting and contouring effects. I do a little line here,
02:12 more contouring and I also do a little bit of a highlighter right on the inside of my nose,
02:18 of my nose, not my nose as I only have one. Creepy looking right? So then I'm just taking
02:24 a basic sponge, I have a cotton ball, I have a holder of sponges and cotton balls just right
02:31 here in my bathroom so whenever I need a new one I have them available. Just taking a cheap
02:36 little makeup sponge and now I'm going to just rub all of this in. So underneath my eyes I'm
02:40 kind of dabbing because I want to make sure the color stays. I don't want to just kind of wipe
02:45 it all off. Kind of blotting it in. So I tend to do the concealer first and if I had any blemishes
02:55 I would use that concealer as well. Right now the only one I have, I do have pretty good skin so I'm
03:03 blessed in that way. I have noticed though I drink Shakeology every day and I've noticed that my skin
03:13 has actually looked a lot better since I started doing that. So little tip, want some Shakeology,
03:18 holla! Okay so I've got the concealer in, now I'm coming on a different part of the sponge and
03:23 lightly blending in that highlighter. I hope you can't hear too much of Daniel Tiger in the
03:33 background, my son watching it. Alright. And it's okay if you can still see a little bit of it
03:45 because we still have a couple other layers of color we're gonna put on our face. And because
03:57 I'm talking it's taken me a little longer to rub it in so I am noticing it's a tiny bit bolder than
04:01 it normally is but that's okay. But you would still see a little bit of it because otherwise
04:09 what's the point of putting it on if you don't notice any difference? I'm trying to see if I
04:11 can stand a little bit brighter light so that you can see me. Alright so now after that's applied
04:17 I'm going to grab my foundation. Now in the summer I like to use just a mineral powder foundation
04:24 because it is way too hot to use a cream foundation. So when it's nice and cool out I
04:30 use this nice, see I'm like shaking it just before I show it to you because the color is all uneven
04:35 because it's been sitting on my counter because it is summer and it is way too hot in Southwest
04:39 Florida. But when it's cool enough I do like to use this MAC Match Master foundation. It's cool
04:45 because it adjusts to your color tone. But right now, so nine months out of the year in Southwest
04:51 Florida, I use L'Oreal True Match Mineral Foundation. Love it. So that's my foundation.
04:57 But before I get to foundation I use a little bit of contouring to just make my face look
05:04 thinner. Who doesn't want to look thinner? Who doesn't want to be thinner? But you can
05:08 look thinner with your makeup. So this is a powder blush by MAC and the color I'm using
05:14 is Harmony and it's a matte coverage. It's a matte, there's no spec to it. This I'm going
05:23 to use as a contouring color. So you'll want to pick a shade that's about three shades darker
05:29 than your actual skin tone. So you'll want to go to the MAC counter or to you know the makeup
05:36 counter wherever you want to buy your makeup and you're going to look for something that's
05:39 matte so no shimmer. That's going to be about three shades darker than your basic color.
05:46 See how that's a little bit darker? So this is technically a blush but I use it as a contour.
05:53 So I go and I grab the end of my brush. I don't actually use this brush to apply this
05:58 foundation so it's not going to be mixing colors. I use a separate brush to apply my
06:01 foundation. So this brush that comes up free with my foundation I actually use for my contouring.
06:07 So I come in and I actually kind of hold this brush. You could also just use an angled brush
06:12 but to be honest I just started with this and this is what I'm used to. So you could
06:15 use like an angled brush like this if you have something like this, ELF cheap brush.
06:21 But I'm just used to my own personal technique of using this. So I come in and I kind of
06:25 hold the brush to make it thinner. So that's what I'm saying you could actually use a thinner
06:29 brush so that you don't have to create it with your hand. But I kind of hold it like
06:33 this. I come in and kind of go around the sides because I'm almost out of this. And
06:38 I kind of hold it to create more of a line. So this is why you would want to just use
06:43 a lined brush. And I'm just going to come right underneath my cheekbone and I'm going
06:48 to highlight it. That's a confusing word. I'm going to highlight it with this darker
06:54 color. So right along here, right underneath my chin or cheek. See that? And I'm going
07:01 all the way up into the hairline. So this is what it looks like. So creepy right? So
07:09 this is highlighter or I'm sorry contouring on, no contouring. On, no contouring. Add
07:16 a little bit more for the other side. You can do the little duck face, it helps. And
07:23 then I come up into the hairline. Then I add a little bit more. And then I also lightly
07:30 line the sides of my face. You do not want to create a crazy line but I am kind of shaping
07:36 my face. So I do a light line across. And of course we're covering this with foundation
07:43 so don't be alarmed. And then I have a small brush. Again this is ELF and it's a contour
07:48 brush. And I put a little bit more on here. And again I'm going to contour the sides of
07:55 my nose because I have a large nose. I'm trying to make it look smaller. So I come right on
07:59 the outside of my nose. And I bring it right up into the brow. And I'm connecting the bridge
08:13 of my nose to the brow. Alright. Now we're ready to actually come on top of that creepy
08:20 contouring look. Ah creepy! Don't worry I'm going to cover it all up. So my foundation
08:27 tone is sun beige, number 468 on this L'Oreal Mineral, L'Oreal Mineral Foundation. So and
08:38 then the brush I use to apply it. See? Super cheap brushes. I think these are a dollar
08:43 to three dollars max. The black ones with ELF are the studio line so they're a little
08:47 more expensive. So this is probably like three or six dollars. Probably six dollars. Not
08:54 bad. And when I was buying them they didn't have them at First Sale at Target so I also
08:58 paid shipping. Okay so I'm going to put a little bit. Just tap it on the inside here
09:02 so you don't get too much on the brush. This is a powder brush by ELF. Any powder brush
09:08 will do. I actually have a ton of different brushes because I'm a makeup addict. I buy
09:12 lots of brushes and then I just have them around. So I'm putting it on like this on
09:18 my brush but I'm doing it over my sink so that the extra comes off. So I kind of tap
09:22 it, get a little extra off. I also blow on it to get a little extra off. So now this
09:27 is about how much is on my brush and I'm coming in and I'm just kind of circular motion applying
09:37 it and I get underneath my eye, along my nose, and I kind of do each section of my face with
09:44 fresh application on the brush so I make sure I'm getting good coverage. Not a ton but I
09:52 want to make sure I have an even amount across all of my face. You may have noticed I don't
09:57 take my nose ring out to put on my makeup. If you have a nose ring you don't have to
10:01 do that. I mean it wouldn't hurt to do it but I would just be afraid I'd forget to put
10:05 it back in. Busy mama, I don't necessarily have time to think about all of those details.
10:12 So the only trick about applying powder foundation like this is to kind of circular, kind of
10:21 put it on in circles as you go. That's going to help make it blend. See what I'm doing?
10:27 I'm getting all around my face to make sure I don't have any crazy lines. So I'm just
10:34 going to do that. Alright, putting it all over. Now I don't have those creepy lines
10:41 but there's some natural color or there's some color showing through where I contoured
10:50 that's kind of making me look thinner. That was the contouring secret. It's not a secret
10:57 anymore. Alright, so sometimes I put on a little bit of bronzer because who doesn't
11:03 love bronzer? I'm using this MAC product. It's refined golden bronzing powder and this
11:10 I'm applying with an ELF complexion brush. I just put a tiny bit on and really I just
11:16 kind of put it along my cheek and then I tend to do this. Again, just making sure I don't
11:23 get any creepy makeup line. Sometimes I'll also put it in here. I don't use a lot of
11:33 bronzer on my daily application. If I'm doing a super quick makeup day where maybe I'm going
11:39 to the pool or I'm going just to work out or something and meeting friends for breakfast
11:43 afterwards and I don't want to be completely bare faced, I might do just a little bit of
11:46 that bronzer with maybe I'll do my brows and mascara and that would be it. So that's why
11:53 I do own the bronzer but I don't use it a super ton a lot. Okay, so one day I was at
11:59 the MAC store and dangerous for me to be in the MAC store but I was there and they demoed
12:05 this mineralize skin finish highlighting powder and I didn't need it but I bought it and so
12:12 I've worked it into my daily application and I really do like it. It's like a shimmery
12:20 pink. It's not bright enough to be a blush. Don't think, "Oh, I'll buy it and I'll use
12:24 it as my blush." It's not bright enough for blush. Even if you're like somebody who doesn't
12:28 really like a bold blush, which sorry, that's not me. I really like bold blush but it's
12:33 not strong enough of a pigment to be a blush. It really is for highlighting so I use this
12:37 ELF bronzing brush. See the white line is their cheaper line so this to me is not big
12:43 enough for a bronzing brush but it's the perfect size for me to come in for this highlighting
12:48 powder and I'm lightly applying it right underneath my eye and up to the outside of my eye and
12:55 a little bit over the brow. See how you can see that it's there but it's definitely not
13:02 bold enough to be a blush. And I am telling you this is not a necessary makeup step but
13:09 I own it, I like it and I use it every day. So that's how I apply this. I guess it's just
13:16 a skin finish mineralizing highlighting blush or powder. Alright, so after I do that, my
13:24 last two steps, you're almost done with me. I'm going to use an ELF blush brush from the
13:30 Professional line and this is another MAC product and I just recently got this blush
13:36 and I'm really happy with it. I like bold pinks. I like bold pinks and I cannot lie.
13:41 See what I just did there? Okay, this one is also mineralized but it's got a shimmer
13:46 and it's bold and the color is gentle which I think is kind of ironic. It's not very gentle
13:51 if you're not into bold pinks. So I'm using this ELF blush brush, dab, dab, dab and then
13:57 for me, again I like bold blush. I'll show you the face I make to apply it. You apply
14:02 it however you feel comfortable. Some people want just a little bit on the cheeks, more
14:07 like along the line, pulling it up. Some people like a rosy cheek. I actually do a little
14:12 bit of both. So I kind of cheesy smile on the apples and then up, circle up. As you
14:19 can see, I'm doing a fair amount on the apple and up and then I'm reapplying for my second.
14:26 Cheesy smile, pull it up. And then I do the tiniest dab on my nose, tiniest dab on my
14:33 chin. I always end up going back and doing that around. Alright, I like bold blush. This
14:40 is how I apply my blush. You could kind of rub it in a little bit or sometimes I'll use
14:48 a powder brush, a large brush, ELF as well with kind of like a finishing powder. This
14:55 is ELF high definition powder. This is great whenever I'm doing a photo shoot, which sounds
15:01 like I'm like a model or something. I'm not. I just like to take pictures with my family.
15:05 If I'm doing a photo shoot or I'm going to be on video, I would put a little bit of this
15:11 on and it's good for like just kind of pulling your look together. And I also feel like it
15:16 kind of blends all of the different powders I've put on my face together. This brush is
15:22 just a basic, studio basic. That sounds like maybe a Walmart line. Just a larger blush
15:27 or larger powder brush. Alright, last step. Okay, I want you to look at my eyebrows. I
15:33 have a good natural shaped eyebrow. However, they're not quite thick enough to really make
15:39 my face look pulled together. So once I started using this ELF treat and tame combo, I've
15:46 been so happy with it. So this side is like the treat side. So technically it's supposed
15:52 to, I don't know, make your brows something or other. I don't use that side. I just use
15:58 this other side. And so for a blonde person, you would want to get the ash color. This
16:02 I haven't seen in stores. I did order it on the website, ELF.com. And I want to say it
16:09 was like $3 maybe. With shipping, you might pay a little bit more. So I often will just
16:14 buy like three at a time. So I just have them. Alright, so this, all this is going to do
16:19 is it's going to be able to fill in my brow. See, it's just kind of spotty. It's got a
16:23 good natural shape to it, but it's just not very bold. Now I don't want that creepy like
16:28 painted on brow that's been happening these last couple of years. Not a fan of that look,
16:33 but I do just want to fill in and make my brow a little bit stronger looking, fuller
16:40 looking. And so that's what this cheap stuff is going to do for me. I'm just coming in
16:44 and it just has a little bit of color to it. So I'm just up and then out. See how this
16:54 one looks so much better than this one now? It's not creepy. It's not like painted bold.
16:59 I'm not making it come further under my face and I'm not making it wider. I'm just giving
17:04 it a little better shape. I really want you to see the difference before I do it to the
17:07 other eye. So much better. This morning I woke up and I was like, "Oh, actually my eyebrows
17:12 aren't that bad. They actually do look good even without that stuff." And I remembered
17:17 I had fallen asleep without taking my makeup from yesterday off. That's why my eyebrows
17:21 looked good. So I definitely recommend this $3 trick. And you would just get the color
17:28 that is going to work for your face. And then I fill it in. Alright, ladies and gents, maybe
17:35 if you're a gent watching this, that has been my everyday makeup application number one
17:43 tip. Do your eye makeup first, then come back and do the rest of your face. Hope you have
17:49 a great day. Thanks for watching.
