00:00 Hi everyone, welcome back to the makeup chair.
00:04 Today I'm talking makeup bag detoxing.
00:07 I'm going to show you guys how to detox your makeup bag and make sure you only have essentials
00:11 in here.
00:12 So let's get started.
00:13 Start by laying out all the makeup in your makeup bag.
00:18 If your makeup bag has seen better days, you can either wash it or ditch it and get yourself
00:22 a nice fresh new one.
00:27 Divide all the makeup into brushes and tools, foundation and concealers, blush, bronzers
00:35 and powders, eyeliners and mascara, and any palettes that you might have.
00:48 And finally your lip products.
00:51 Then you want to divide your makeup into three piles, a keep pile, a give away pile and a
00:58 throw away pile.
00:59 Now the throw away pile is the hardest thing to do because we love our makeup, we don't
01:03 want to get rid of it, but if something is looking a bit discoloured, if it smells weird,
01:08 especially for mascaras, if it's not working the way that it used to, then get rid of it.
01:15 Next you have a give away pile.
01:16 These are all products that you just never use because maybe it's an eyeshadow palette
01:20 that's just got the wrong colours, maybe it's a blush that's the wrong shade, a bronzer
01:24 that's too dark, a foundation that just doesn't work for your skin, whatever it might be,
01:29 give it to someone else that it is going to suit.
01:31 Now all that's gone, you're going to be left over with your keep pile.
01:34 So in this pile you want to make sure you have a foundation, a BB cream or CC cream,
01:38 whatever might suit you, a concealer that's got good coverage in it, a blush, a bronzer,
01:43 a powder, maybe even a highlighter, eyebrow gel or palette, whatever you like to use,
01:49 an eyeshadow palette that's going to work with your skin tone and your eye colour, a
01:53 mascara that's been bought within the last six months, you just want to make sure you
01:56 wipe it down to get rid of any old mascara.
01:58 I do have a video on how to disinfect your mascara and keep it nice and clean, so I'll
02:02 put that in the information box.
02:03 Eyeliners, gels, liquids, pencils, whatever it might be, if you're using any pencils,
02:07 sharpen them, make sure you put a lid on them and pop them into your bag and then they're
02:11 always ready and you don't have to worry about it damaging the inside of your bag.
02:15 An eyelash curler, pop that baby in.
02:17 Now if you find that your eyelashes just aren't getting curled with your eyelash curler the
02:20 way that it used to, you probably need to get a new one because the mechanism can actually
02:25 get kind of damaged over time.
02:26 So get yourself a new one if you find that your eyelashes aren't getting a good curl.
02:30 And finally, some of your favourite lip products.
02:32 You want something that's nude that you can wear with a smoky eye, you want something
02:35 that's natural which is quite close to your lip colour that's just going to complement
02:39 your skin all the time, and then maybe a little bit of pop of colour like a red or a hot pink
02:43 or something like that.
02:44 When it comes to essential makeup brushes, you want to make sure you have a foundation
02:50 brush and a concealer brush, a powder brush, a blush and a highlighter or bronzer brush.
02:55 Now if that's a lot of brushes to you, then I would recommend getting the F20 by Blank
02:59 Canvas Cosmetics because that brush does all of those things in one.
03:04 But I recommend getting two of them so you have one that's clean, one that's ready
03:07 to be cleaned, you know what I mean.
03:09 And when it comes to the eyes, you want to make sure you have a flat brush for applying
03:12 eyeshadow, a blending brush for blending it in, a spoolie and an angled brush for doing
03:16 your brows, and then a lip brush.
03:18 And those are my essential brushes.
03:20 And that is pretty much everything.
