London headlines 24th May: Woman hit by police bike escorting royal family member dies

A woman who was involved in a collision with a police motorbike escorting a member of the royal family just days after King Charles' coronation has died. The family of 81 year old Helen Holland said she fought "for her life for nearly two weeks... but irreversible damage to her brain finally ended the battle."

2,422 homes are sitting empty in Southwark as the council say they're 'using every tool' to tackle the housing crisis. Sadiq Khan and Westminster City Council have called for stronger powers to cut down on long-term empty homes.

And last - The Elizabeth line, one of the UK's busiest railways in the country, is celebrating its one year anniversary. More than one hundred and fifty million journeys have been made across the Elizabeth line in its first year since its opening on the 24th May 2022. The line is used for about six hundred thousand trips each weekday.
