00:00 third-party candidate, his name is Muharrem Inca, was going to take votes
00:05 away from the main challenger to President Erdogan, Kemal Kilec Doguru.
00:11 But that is not the only thing that has happened in the past 48 hours. Also in
00:17 the last two days, polls have come out from reputable polling companies showing
00:24 that Kilec Doguru has got very close to the 50% plus one vote that one needs to
00:32 secure victory in the first round of these elections on Sunday. If nobody gets
00:38 50% plus one, then it goes to a runoff on May the 28th. Now, these two polling
00:44 companies, Metropol and Conda, Metropol has given Kemal Kilec Doguru 49.1%
00:53 once the undecided votes are distributed, and it's given President
00:59 Erdogan 46.9%. The other polling company, Conda, has given Kilec Doguru 49.3%
01:09 and it's given Erdogan 43.7%. Now, both these polls gave the third-placed
01:18 candidate, Muharrem Inca, between 1.3 and 2.2%. Now, most of Inca's supporters are
01:29 young people, many of them first-time voters, who want change. So it's fair to
01:34 assume that once Inca has dropped out, they will now vote for Kilec Doguru, and
01:41 it's thought that their votes will push Kilec Doguru over the 50% that he needs
01:46 to secure victory on Sunday.
