00:00 Whether you're looking to get or avoid a dominant dog breed, this is the perfect video for you.
00:04 In today's video, we're going to be breaking down the top 10 most dominant dog breeds.
00:09 #10 The Neapolitan Mastiff
00:12 The first dog breed on our list is the Neapolitan Mastiff. They are one of the
00:17 largest dog breeds in the world. Only looking at the physical outlook of this dog, its massive body,
00:23 intimidating build, and wrinkled face, you can already tell there is something about the dog
00:28 that commands respect from other dogs and animals. Although they are very large dogs,
00:33 Neapolitan Mastiffs are sometimes described as gentle giants. This is because they have a soft
00:39 and playful side. However, this doesn't remove the dominant side of this dog breed. They are ready to
00:45 push your boundaries to test how serious you are as their owner. They are born protectors. Once they
00:51 tag a person as part of their family, they automatically become very protective of that
00:55 person. And on hearing the deep tone of their barks, thieves and burglars would rethink their
01:01 life choices. The good thing about this dominant dog breed is they are hardly unnecessarily
01:06 aggressive. But when the need arises, aggression comes easy to them. They need an owner who has
01:13 experience with dominant dogs or they could become the dictators of the household. If you think this
01:19 dog is crazy dominant, then be sure to watch the video to the end, because at number one is the
01:24 most powerful dog in the whole world with a bite force twice the size of a wolf's.
01:29 Number 9. The Giant Schnauzer
01:33 At number 9 we have the Giant Schnauzer. While Giant Schnauzers are big dogs that have pretty
01:39 intimidating physique, they also love to play. They are an intelligent, bold and adventurous
01:44 dog breed. These dogs are naturally suspicious whenever they are around strangers, which is why
01:50 they are a great breed to keep as guard dogs. However, it also means that they need to be
01:54 allowed to socialize at a very young age. This helps to reduce the chances of them getting
02:00 aggressive when they see a stranger or other animals. These dogs have a very dominant and
02:05 independent personality. So, if you are an inexperienced owner, it is advised that you
02:10 don't go for this breed and in fact, some breeders might be unwilling to sell this dog to a family
02:15 that has little kids. If you have little kids, then we suggest you check out our list
02:20 on the top 10 dog breeds for kids. Link in the description below.
02:24 Even for people who have years of experience in training dogs,
02:28 the Giant Schnauzer can still pose a big challenge. With this breed, you need to be
02:33 able to stand on the thin line between enforcing the rules of the house and not being forceful
02:38 about it. A bit complicated, isn't it? Number 8. The Jack Russell Terrier
02:43 The first two dogs we mentioned are both big dogs, so for number 8 we are going for a dog
02:48 you might not even expect to be on this list - the Jack Russell Terrier.
02:51 Do not for a second get fooled by the size of the Jack Russell Terrier. This dog breed can be way
02:58 more stubborn and even independent than some large dogs. They seldom get along with other dogs,
03:03 and their independent nature makes them very hard to train. They were initially bred for hunting,
03:08 which results in them having a very high prey drive. How high? Let's just say high enough that
03:14 the neighbor with a rabbit is bothered. Because they are so difficult, they will need a very firm
03:20 and consistent trainer. These little guys are so dominant that they are ready to pick a fight with
03:24 a dog or other animals that are clearly bigger than them. So leave their size out of the discussion,
03:31 Jack Russell Terriers are as dominant as they come.
03:34 Number 7. The Siberian Husky With a prominent appearance and piercing eyes,
03:40 in number 7 we have the Siberian Husky. Distracted by the appearance of this pooch,
03:45 a lot of amateur dog owners never know how stubborn and dominant this dog breed can truly be.
03:51 The Siberian Husky will try to push every boundary created by its owners,
03:56 and if left uncontrolled, can even take command of your home. This is why they require a strong
04:02 and confident owner who can show themselves as the man in charge. Because at the slightest show
04:08 of weakness or indulgence, these dogs will take total control of the environment. Once they get
04:14 bored or out of control, Siberian Huskies can become very destructive inside the house.
04:18 Most dog trainers believe that Siberian Huskies are one of the hardest dog breeds to train.
04:24 Bearing a close resemblance to their cousin the wolf, they also act quite like them. And so,
04:30 they will only listen to the pack leader. So, if you cannot show yourself as a figure to be
04:35 respected, it may become very difficult to keep your Siberian Husky in check.
04:39 Number 6. The Shar-Pei A well-socialized Shar-Pei will be very devoted
04:45 to their family. They are described as loyal, independent and calm. If you decide to adopt a
04:51 Shar-Pei, then you have to be sure that they start getting trained at a very early age. If a Shar-Pei
04:57 isn't trained at a very early age, you might have a problem on your hands. Here's why.
05:01 Naturally, the Shar-Pei is suspicious of strangers and also doesn't get along too
05:06 easily with other dogs. So, without proper training and socialization early on, you might
05:11 have a very stubborn and territorial dog on your hands. And even worse, they are quite difficult
05:16 to train. When training them, you have to be firm but not harsh. They are so dominant that if you
05:22 begin to shout and scold them, all you will have is a rebellious dog. Number 5. Dogo Argentino
05:30 In number 5 we have the Dogo Argentino. Even the name of this dog sounds dominant enough to scare
05:36 a person. But it's more than just its name. This dog breed has a reputation as one of the most
05:43 aggressive breeds in the world. It's so aggressive, it's banned in the UK. However, a well-trained
05:49 and socialized Dogo Argentino will not attack without feeling threatened. Still, they are big
05:55 dogs with natural predator instincts. So, you might find them chasing smaller dogs, cats, and
06:02 other pets. They are an independent and stubborn breed that are extremely protective of their owners
06:07 and families. Unfortunately, some dog owners take advantage of the strength of this breed
06:12 and use them as illegal fight dogs. But we definitely don't want to get into that.
06:18 Number 4. The American Bulldog Everyone knows the American Bulldog
06:23 thanks to the tough time it gave Tom on Jerry's behalf. This dog's breed is a stocky, muscular dog
06:30 with a lot of energy and agility. Some well-trained American Bulldogs can jump as high as 6 feet,
06:36 which is incredible considering their size. However, physicality isn't all this dog breed
06:41 offers. They are also intelligent dogs with a soft spot for family, which is why they make
06:46 amazing protective family dogs. These dogs need a lot of exercise, which is why they will not sit
06:52 well with an inexperienced or inactive owner. As you'd expect, American Bulldogs are generally
06:58 suspicious of strangers and will always be ready to protect their family and territory.
07:02 Yep, they are very territorial dogs. It would take a lot of patience and training and care,
07:09 but the American Bulldog can make great family companions. Due to their energetic needs,
07:15 these dogs are sometimes not allowed to be owned by people who live in apartments.
07:19 Number 3. The Caucasian Shepherd Dog This large breed comes from the Caucasian
07:26 mountains, where they were bred to herd livestock along shepherds. These dogs are very territorial
07:32 and they make the perfect watchdogs. If you need a dog that will not hesitate to get into a fight
07:37 for you, the Caucasian Shepherd is what you want. If you're not yet convinced about how territorial
07:42 these dogs can get, get this, these dogs will not hesitate to attack a bear or a wolf if they feel
07:49 like they're encroaching into their territory. They know no fear. Unfortunately, this fierceness
07:55 and dominance makes it a little more difficult to train them.
07:58 Number 2. Fox Terrier This dog breed was primarily bred to be a fox
08:05 flusher. During fox hunts, hunters would use the fox terriers to get foxes out of their hiding
08:10 places. They are very intelligent dogs with a lot of energy to expend. If you do not have a very
08:16 active lifestyle, you might not be able to keep up with these dogs and they will quickly become
08:21 bored. They can be very impulsive, which is why a novice owner might find this breed very
08:27 challenging to take care of. They are so mischievous that they know exactly how to get you to do their
08:33 bidding without breaking a sweat. With these dogs, if you have no experience, they'll conveniently
08:38 run rings around you. If you've been enjoying the video so far, then be sure to drop a line
08:44 down below. And if you haven't already, subscribe to the channel and turn on the bell notification
08:49 so you get notified when we upload a new video. Number 1. The Borible
08:53 This is a very large dog that was bred for the sole purpose of guarding homes.
08:58 This dog tops the dominance list for a number of reasons. First, they are said to be one of
09:04 the most powerful dog breeds in the world. Their muscular build alone would scare anyone if this
09:09 dog is on guard before it begins to show what it is physically capable of. They are naturally
09:15 suspicious of strangers and do not joke with their territory. But don't be deceived by the
09:21 rugged nature of these dogs. They have a sweet side to them that is always willing and ready
09:26 to please. A well-trained Borible will make the perfect family dog. Still, as expected for a
09:32 dominant dog, it is required that the owners be experienced and confident enough to create the
09:38 boundaries for the dogs. It is also important that the dogs are exposed to a lot of socialization
09:44 at an early age to help them tone down their aggressive nature.
09:47 And that, guys, is all for this video. This was a really exciting one to discuss. If you have had
09:54 any experience with any of these dogs, we'd love you to share some of it in the comment section
09:58 below. And if you enjoyed this video, you'll definitely enjoy the two videos we have on
10:03 screen right now, so definitely check them out! Peace!
