00:00 While a tiger isn't recognized as king of the jungle, it is certainly one of the most
00:04 feared animals in the animal kingdom.
00:07 In fact, the tiger is the largest big cat there is and has a bite force that is almost
00:13 twice the strength of a lion.
00:15 It would be a tough job for any animal to take down the tiger.
00:19 However, it is not entirely impossible.
00:22 Here are 6 animals that could defeat a tiger if it really came down to it.
00:27 Number 1 Saltwater Crocodile Just as the tiger is highly feared among land
00:32 animals, the saltwater crocodile is highly feared among aquatic animals.
00:37 And if it came down to a battle, the crocodile could certainly come out on top.
00:42 This has a lot to do with the powerful force of a crocodile's bite.
00:46 To put things in perspective, the bite force of a crocodile is 3700 psi, pounds per square
00:53 inch, which is more than three times that of the tiger's, which sits at 1050 psi.
01:00 This is not saying that a tiger does not stand a chance against a crocodile, because it does.
01:05 For the crocodile to defeat a tiger, it would have to somehow sink its teeth into the tiger,
01:11 which in itself could be a challenge because of how stealthy a tiger is.
01:15 If the croc manages to get the tiger in its grip, though, that tiger is most likely finished.
01:22 Number 2 Indian Gaur Looking at an Indian bull gaur, it is easy
01:27 to immediately think that the gaur would demolish the tiger in a battle.
01:32 That if it was a fight to the death, the gaur would certainly come out alive.
01:37 In some cases, this is true, as the Indian gaur is easily the biggest and baddest cattle
01:43 species in the world.
01:45 It is huge and solid and could easily be three times as heavy as a tiger.
01:50 Add in their menacing looking horns and you have one huge defensive beast.
01:55 Number 3 Asian Elephant There is hardly any animal that stands a
02:00 chance against the elephant.
02:02 They are just way too large.
02:04 A tiger wouldn't dare approach an adult elephant that is in good health.
02:09 Approaching a baby elephant is also risky, because baby elephants travel with their adults,
02:15 and trying to wrestle a baby elephant from a herd of elephants is just suicide.
02:20 Number 4 Water Buffalo A tiger's best bet for taking down a water
02:25 buffalo is creating an ambush.
02:27 As the water buffalo is significantly larger than the tiger, it would be foolish for the
02:32 tiger to try a head-on attack.
02:34 If a water buffalo did encounter a tiger foolish enough to attack head-on, the water buffalo
02:39 could stand a chance.
02:41 Something else that could work for the water buffalo, aside from the tiger's state of
02:45 mind, is that tigers are lone hunters.
02:48 With a carefully carried out ambush, the tiger might be able to sink its teeth into the water
02:53 buffalo's neck.
02:55 Though water buffaloes are known for their aggression and willpower, so it's highly
03:00 unlikely that the water buffalo would just accept defeat without a fight.
03:05 All in all, a water buffalo could take down a tiger.
03:08 However, neither animal is coming out unscathed.
03:12 Number 5 Indian Rhinoceros The Indian rhinoceros is one of those animals
03:17 that a tiger wouldn't ordinarily challenge.
03:20 In fact, rhinos and tigers have been known to share communal habitat, and this is probably
03:26 because of the mutual respect they both have for each other's dangerousness.
03:30 However, if a tiger did try to attack an able-bodied rhino, the fight could tip in either party's
03:37 favor.
03:38 The tiger would have to rely on its stealth, while the rhino would have body mass and strength
03:43 on its side.

03:57 Number 6 Brown Bear Could we honestly have a list of animals that
04:01 could take down a large cat without having a representative from the bear family?
04:06 Like every other animal on this list, the brown bear is significantly larger than the
04:11 tiger, though we believe this matchup could be close.
04:14 If the tiger plays its cards wrong, the brown bear does stand a chance.
04:18 It would have to really leverage on its size advantage, though, and take the fight to the
04:22 tiger head on, as stealth isn't exactly a bear's strong point.
04:26 All in all, the tiger is a powerful animal, but certainly not undefeated.
