00:00 In this video, we're going to discover the top 10 animals that could kill a crocodile.
00:04 Hey everybody, welcome to Pet Spot.
00:07 While we're sure that you already have your assumptions locked in, we can assure you that
00:11 you would have never guessed the animal in our number 1 spot for today.
00:14 Here's a clue, it's really really tiny.
00:18 But just before we jump into that, if you do go on to enjoy the video, please be sure
00:22 to click on that like button and subscribe to the channel for more amazing content.
00:27 Let's get right into it.
00:29 Number 10 Elephant The elephant and the crocodile are two animals
00:33 that just happen to always find themselves in the same geographical space.
00:38 Considering that they are both very avid fans of hydration, you can imagine that they get
00:42 into it daily, bumping into each other at the point where water meets land.
00:53 But that's the interesting thing about this fight.
00:55 Be it within or without the water, the elephant will always take the victory simply due to
01:00 the size and sheer power of the Asian or African elephant.
01:04 Even the saltwater crocodile, being the largest living reptile and crocodile known to man,
01:10 will become almost perilous against a full grown elephant.
01:14 Were you able to guess this one?
01:15 Either yes or no, stick around to the end to see just how many you can get right.
01:20 And don't forget that we have a wild card waiting in number 1.
01:24 Number 9 Killer Whale One fun fact is that a large saltwater crocodile,
01:30 as we mentioned earlier, can weigh up to 1000 kilograms or even more.
01:35 Sadly, this fact becomes a lot less fun when you realize that as large as a croc may be,
01:41 it can very easily be killed and eaten by a killer whale.
01:49 There are several reasons that this beautiful black and white beast will have the advantage
01:53 in this fight.
01:55 First off, let us consider the sheer brawn that the killer whale possesses.
01:58 It is quite clear though, the animal has "killer" in its name already.
02:03 A large adult killer whale, or orca as it's also referred to as, can span a length of
02:08 over 30 feet and weigh about 5000 kilos, which is at least 5 times the size of a large saltwater
02:15 crocodile.
02:16 So by size alone, it would be impossible for any crocodile to do serious damage to the
02:21 whale.
02:22 By the time the crocodile would be able to gather itself for an offensive move, the orca
02:26 would have torn it apart with the weapons-grade detonation that they use in hunting animals
02:31 as large as seals, sea lions, and even other whales.
02:36 If by some miracle, the croc even manages to get a few hits in, being a mammal makes
02:46 the whale a whole lot smarter than the reptile.
02:49 This places the whale over crocodile in both brains and brawn.
02:54 Number 8 Lion In Africa, the biggest crocodile vs lion
02:59 standoffs are always between the Nile crocodile and the lion.
03:03 If you watch any animal documentary channels, you must have come across 1, 2, or even 100
03:09 videos of a lion tearing a full-grown crocodile to pieces like kids to turkey on Thanksgiving.
03:18 Now the king of the jungle is sure to do damage to a big croc under any battle conditions.
03:24 However, the lion's chances of killing the crocodile are not as high if the fight is
03:31 taking place in the water.
03:34 Crocs are much faster with movement and attack when in water than on land.
03:38 If the lion is not experienced, it could be the one fighting for its life if it ends up
03:41 in the water.
03:42 However, on its home turf, on land, the crocodile will be dinner for the pride.
03:48 Number 7 Other Big Cats Seeing us merge some animals into one position
03:53 suggests that we have a lot more interesting content on the way.
03:57 The leopard, tiger, and jaguar in all their glorious stripes and spots are all worthy
04:02 contenders to kill and devour a crocodile.
04:05 As for leopards, they hate water.
04:08 This therefore means that the two animals might not cross paths as often as others on
04:13 this list.
04:14 Nonetheless, since crocs also come to land from time to time to get some of that land
04:18 food, the meetup is inevitable, and it never really ends well.
04:23 Leopards are very territorial and aggressive.
04:30 They also pack a lot of strength and speed to complete the equation.
04:35 Leopards are strong enough to kill and carry prey up to three times their body weight up
04:39 into a tree.
04:41 These factors give the leopard a seriously real chance of victory.
04:45 All of these factors also apply to the other cats mentioned earlier.
04:48 All three are powerful cats that could certainly kill a croc, as long as the fight happens
04:52 on land.
04:54 So it's clear, big cats can defeat crocs.
04:57 But what about a fellow reptile?
04:59 Well keep watching, as we have one reptile on the list who could most certainly kill
05:03 a crocodile.
05:05 Number 6 – Hippopotamus Putting a croc in a ring with this massive
05:10 beast would be an already decided match.
05:13 The hippo's bite force is strong enough to divide the crocodile into two equal halves.
05:18 Measuring the chances, a hippo vs croc match has a 98% chance of winning in favor of the
05:24 hippopotamus.
05:25 That 2% left is just in there in case of some divine intervention or miraculous occurrence.
05:31 Number 5 – Anaconda It is said that the great anaconda has a 90%
05:36 chance of defeating a crocodile.
05:38 However, this is not entirely correct since it is only true for the caiman crocodiles.
05:44 Caimans are the smallest members of the crocodile family, so it makes sense why this particular
05:49 croc will not stand a chance against one of the mightiest snakes in the world.
05:53 However, even including larger crocodiles, if this huge reptile manages to catch any
05:58 croc in its tight coil, then that crocodile is certainly dead.
06:03 The massive length and thickness of its body would be enough to squeeze the life right
06:06 out of it.
06:08 Number 4 – Polar Bear This unfortunately is the most unlikely match
06:13 up in this video so far.
06:16 Watching the largest land carnivore in the world go up against the largest reptile in
06:20 existence would be such an interesting fight.
06:24 An adult male polar bear weighs about 700 kg.
06:27 Impressive right?
06:28 Well, that is not the major killing point for the polar bear.
06:32 This animal is very strong, so strong that they record a bite force of 1200 lbs per square
06:38 inch.
06:45 If the bite strength alone is not enough to convince you, the polar bear is so strong
06:49 that any predator would be scrambling for its life just by the swipe of one of its paws.
06:55 Based on these facts, you can agree that if the polar bear and the crocodile ever ended
06:59 up in a fight, the bear would barely have any problem destroying the crocodile.
07:04 What about another aquatic animal?
07:06 How could the crocodile match up against a predator from its own domain?
07:09 Well, it certainly can't beat the large aquatic animal we're going to be talking
07:13 about pretty soon.
07:15 Number 3 – The White Rhino The white rhinoceros is the largest species
07:20 of rhinoceros in the world.
07:23 You might not be able to lay your hands on so many, or even any, video examples of fight
07:27 scenes between the croc and the white rhino.
07:29 However, it does not take a very wild imagination to guess what would happen in such a fight.
07:35 We will start right out by saying that the white rhino is built to destroy the crocodile,
07:39 even the largest of them all.
07:41 It is important to keep in mind that rhinos are herbivores.
07:45 This means that they might not be found randomly fighting or trying to kill other animals.
07:49 However, if they get provoked or feel threatened by any external force, they will not hesitate
07:54 to activate the defensive instincts in them to pound the threat to nothing.
07:59 Being a strong predator might favor the crocodile in making some hits, although most of it would
08:04 be inconsequential, as the rhino would just be too strong to be defeated or overpowered
08:09 by these attacks.
08:11 Number 2 Great White Shark A great white shark would never fail or hesitate
08:17 to show its superiority against a crocodile.
08:20 It would be even worse for the croc if it went head to head with a female great white,
08:24 as they are the larger ones and are usually the better hunters.
08:32 Generally great whites are the largest predator fish on earth.
08:36 If you've been following the trend in this list so far, you will notice that there has
08:40 been a consistent reference to the size of the animals we have discussed.
08:44 This is because crocs are very fast and aggressive.
08:47 If any animal could match or beat them, then it must have the size to seriously compete.
08:53 On average, great whites grow about 15 feet in length.
08:57 However, some sharks have been recorded to grow more than 20 to 23 feet and weigh up
09:02 to 5,000 pounds or more.
09:06 Complementing the size of the great white shark is the power of its bite.
09:10 Research carried out by some experts using advanced computer modeling based on multiple
09:15 x-ray images of the shark's skull estimated that a 21 foot long great white will carry
09:22 a bite force of about 4,000 psi.
09:25 This kind of force will be more than enough to pierce through the tough skin of any croc
09:29 and inflict some serious injuries.
09:33 And finally to the one we've all been waiting for.
09:36 Number 1.
09:37 The Honey Badger Considering most of the factors we have judged
09:41 by throughout this video, it might not make a lot of sense to say that the honey badger
09:46 would defeat a croc.
09:48 Well newsflash, it could.
09:50 The honey badger, as small as it might be, is one of the angriest and most ferocious
09:54 beasts of the jungle.
09:56 They never give up, are consistently brave, possess huge claws and teeth, and are resistant
10:02 to snake venom.
10:03 It is clear that the honey badger packs it in its portfolio.
10:09 Still, it is important to say that there is no contest in the size department, seeing
10:17 that the honey badger weighs just about 35 pounds or a little over.
10:22 The perseverance of the honey badger is what could win him this battle.
10:26 They never stop until it is completely over.
10:29 There is video evidence of honey badgers going at crocs and even killing them.
10:34 However for the bigger crocs like the Nile and the Salty, it is most likely to bravely
10:38 fight until its own demise.
