00:00 In this video, we're going to cover the top 10 animals that can defeat a gorilla.
00:05 Hey guys, welcome to Pet Spot.
00:10 What if we told you that there's a big cat strong enough to have the gorilla for lunch,
00:14 and it's not the king of the jungle?
00:16 Well, stick around as this animal takes our number one spot for today.
00:21 But, just before we jump into that, if you do go on to enjoy the video,

00:30 Let's get right into it.
00:32 Number 10. Black Mamba
00:35 What the black mamba lacks in size and strength, it makes up for in skill, speed, and potency.
00:42 The black mamba is the second longest venomous snake on the planet, just right behind the king cobra.
00:48 A skilled predator, the mamba is adept at striking from considerable range,
00:54 delivering a succession of lightning fast bites.
00:57 In a matter of minutes, the venom would begin to work its way deep into the body of the gorilla,
01:03 causing respiratory paralysis and a loss of consciousness.
01:07 Not long after, the gorilla will succumb to respiratory failure, cardiovascular collapse, and eventual death.
01:15 Shit.
01:21 Was the black mamba on your list?
01:24 Whether yes or no, stick around to the end to see just how many you can get right.
01:29 And don't forget that we have a real beast waiting in number one.
01:33 Number 9. Rhinoceros
01:36 A mere look at the rhino tells you that it is a worthy opponent of the gorilla.
01:41 Weighing in at a whopping 1,500 pounds for an adult male,
01:45 the rhino is a bundle of sheer strength, muscle, and aggression.
01:50 The animal is typically not confrontational.
01:53 But when threatened, it becomes a ferocious beast that even the gorilla would have difficulty in handling.
02:05 Although it is primarily a vegetarian, rhinos can be very aggressive when threatened
02:10 and are capable of running at surprisingly fast speeds.
02:14 The two horns at the top of its mouth are the main attacking weapons of the rhino.
02:18 In combat with a gorilla, the rhino would stand no chance trying to wrestle with the ape.
02:24 Instead, its best bet would be to charge headfirst at the gorilla with its horns firmly pointed towards the primate.
02:32 This would inflict untold damage to the gorilla who is notoriously known for its soft skin.
02:37 A battle between these two animals would be a bloody one.
02:41 The agility of the gorilla should be an advantage which it could put to use as it tries to evade the deadly horns of the rhino.
02:48 The gorilla will also have to put in a lot of effort if it will succeed in inflicting substantial damage on the thick skin of the rhino.
02:56 On the other hand, the rhino can easily kill the gorilla with its powerful horns.
03:01 The hippopotamus stands behind the elephant and the rhinoceros as the third largest land mammal.
03:11 (Hippo growling)
03:15 With an average male hippo weighing in at 3,300 pounds, this animal is massive.
03:21 Despite their size, stocky shape, and short legs, hippos can still reach speeds of 30 kilometers per hour.
03:28 They spend their time in rivers, lakes, and mangrove swamps, so it is unlikely that they would ever cross paths with a gorilla.
03:36 But if they did, you could expect a ferocious bust up between these two.
03:41 The hippopotamus has a reputation for being one of the most aggressive and unpredictable animals in the wild.
03:47 So, the last thing any animal would want to do is threaten them.
03:52 Their incredibly large jaws are their most powerful weapons as they are capable of snapping an adult human in two.
03:59 They also have very sharp tusks that can reach up to 50 centimeters in length, which are specially designed for combat.
04:06 With their massive jaws and tusks, you can expect the hippopotamus to inflict serious injuries on a gorilla, which would ultimately result in death.
04:15 A matchup between these two would surely be an exciting one to watch.
04:20 Elephants are the largest land animal on the planet.
04:26 An adult male African bush elephant can grow up to 10 to 11 feet in height and weigh up to 3.5 tons.
04:34 These animals are so strong that they routinely uproot trees for fun.
04:39 It is difficult to see how a gorilla could come out on top in a duel with an African elephant.
04:44 The sheer size and strength of the elephant is just too significant to ignore.
04:49 A gorilla would struggle to inflict serious injuries on the tough skin of the elephant.
04:53 And whatever the gorilla tried to come up with to combat the elephant, honestly, it wouldn't stand a chance.
05:00 The elephant's most powerful weapons are its tusks and its incredible powerful legs.
05:06 One swipe of its tusks across the gorilla's body and that could be the end of the gorilla.
05:14 Similarly, a powerful kick could be fatal.
05:18 How about a grappling match?
05:20 Will a silverback come out on top?
05:22 Keep watching to find out the matchup between two known ferocious grapplers.
05:26 The jaguar and the gorilla live in very different geographic locations.
05:35 So it is highly unlikely they could ever square up in the wild.
05:39 But since we are discussing hypotheticals here, might as well bring the jaguar into the picture.
05:45 The jaguar is a highly skilled predator.
05:48 It possesses an exceptionally powerful bite that allows it to pierce the shells of armored reptiles with ease.
05:54 The jaguar has developed a merciless killing technique where unlike most big cats who choose to suffocate their prey to death,
06:02 it attacks its prey by biting through their skulls, delivering a fatal blow to their brains and killing them instantly.
06:10 Spoiler alert, the animal in number one today is also a big cat.
06:16 But it's certainly not the big cat you're expecting.
06:19 Very few animals can boast of the supreme hunting talents that the Nile crocodile possesses.
06:29 Let's start with its bite.
06:30 With a bite force of 5000 PSI, the crocodile has the most powerful bite in the world.
06:37 It captures its prey by locking its jaws onto the neck of its victims till they suffocate to death.
06:43 It is unlikely that a gorilla would be able to survive such an attack.
06:57 On land, the gorilla might have the upper hand thanks to its speed and agility,
07:02 which are two things the crocodile would simply be unable to match.
07:06 A heavy blow to the head of any crocodile with the huge fists of a gorilla could end any duel instantly.
07:13 But in water, the crocodile would reign supreme and the gorilla wouldn't stand a chance.
07:19 Crocodiles have mastered the art of lying in wait unnoticed while underwater.
07:24 They patiently wait to pick the right moment to lunge and strike at their victims.
07:29 With a gorilla in this position, it stands very little chance of survival.
07:33 Even if the gorilla chose to fight back, the crocodile would drag it deeper into the water and suffocate it until it drowns.
07:41 This would be a gruesome ending for any gorilla.
07:44 If the gorilla would struggle in a duel against the jaguar,
07:52 then you can imagine the difficulty it would have against the world's biggest cat, the tiger.
07:57 Male tigers can grow up to 12 feet in length while weighing up to 300 kg.
08:02 The tiger is a fearless animal and an apex predator with an array of hunting skills.
08:07 Tigers feed on several animals,
08:09 some weighing as much as 250 kg.
08:17 Clearly, the tiger is no stranger at taking down large animals,
08:21 which is why you could expect it to put up a formidable fight against a gorilla.
08:26 Despite their enormous size, tigers are very strong.
08:31 They overpower their prey by latching onto their necks to strangulate them.
08:35 Tigers have used this method to kill large animals like water buffaloes and Indian gaurs.
08:41 If a tiger could get a hold of a gorilla's neck,
08:44 then you could be confident that the duel is only going to end in one way,
08:48 with the gorilla lifeless on the floor.
08:51 A fight between a gorilla and a grizzly bear would definitely be one to watch.
08:59 Ordinarily, this appears like an evenly matched duel.
09:03 Both animals are huge, strong, and are also very good at grasping and grappling objects.
09:10 It would be a proper brawl if these two were to fight each other.
09:14 The gorilla has the edge over the grizzly in terms of agility,
09:18 but the grizzly is equipped with sharper claws and strong teeth compared to the gorilla.
09:23 A matchup between these two could go either way,
09:26 but one would assume the grizzly has a slightly better chance of winning.
09:30 Grizzlies are experts in mauling animals with an alarming degree of rage.
09:35 With their sharp claws and huge teeth, they can afflict serious injuries on any animal,
09:40 and the gorilla would not be an exception.
09:53 The lion is the king of the jungle, as they say.
09:57 This apex predator remains unchallenged in the African savannah, and for good reason.
10:02 Lions are seasoned killers.
10:05 Although female lions do most of the hunting within a pride,
10:08 the male lions are also excellent hunters when they need to be.
10:12 With their brute strength, sharp teeth, and massive claws,
10:21 lions can take down pretty much any animal in the jungle, and that includes the gorilla.
10:27 That said, a fight between these two would not be a walk in the park.
10:31 The gorilla can match the lion in strength,
10:34 but it may not have a response to the lion's sharp claws and teeth.
10:38 The lion would seek to target the gorilla's neck, attacking it from behind.
10:42 If the gorilla allows this to happen, it's surely game over.
10:50 The leopard sits at the top of our list because it is a known predator of the gorilla.
10:55 In fact, the leopard is the only animal that is known to hunt down gorillas for food.
11:00 That said, leopards would often avoid a face-off with silverbacks,
11:05 as they are the most difficult to take down.
11:08 One advantage leopards have is their ability to climb trees,
11:12 meaning they can climb into the nests of many gorillas.
11:15 They are also able to hunt at night, catching gorillas unaware.
11:20 Like other big cats, the leopard would attempt to suffocate the gorilla
11:24 by sinking its teeth around its throat until it eventually dies.
