  • el año pasado
Harry Lauder (1870-1950) rose from humble beginnings, singing in music halls and in vaudeville, to become one of the most famous and highly paid entertainers in the world. His simple songs, most of which he wrote himself, appealed to all kinds of people, from workers to the Royal Family. He was knighted Sir Harry after his fund-raising efforts during WWI raised in excess of a million pounds for the care and rehabilitation of veterans. He was also active during WWII as an entertainer on the front lines, even though he was by then an elderly man. Such humanitarian efforts made him a very beloved figure in the world of entertainment.
