Charles "Charlie" Creath's Jazz-O-Maniacs - Crazy Quilt
  • 15 years ago
From 1916 to 1940 Creath's main area of activity was playing on the riverboats traveling up and down the Mississippi river between St. Louis and New Orleans. Many New Orleans artists who would later become legends in jazz history could be found in his bands. This brilliant record was made in 1927. Personnel included: Charles Creath, leader and trumpet; Leonard Davis, trumpet; Charlie Lawson and Sonny Lee, trombone; Sam Long, William (Thornton) Blue and Horace Eubanks, clarinet and alto saxophone; Margie Creath, Cranston Hamilton and Burroughs Lovingood, piano; Pete Patterson, banjo; William Rollins, tenor saxophone; Lonnie Johnson, guitar; Floyd Campbell and Zutty Singleton, drums, as well as Cecil White, bass.
