Wales headlines 6 February: Ambulance staff go on strike, Gatlan suffers defeat in first game back, solar farm plans of ‘national significance’
  • last year
Ambulance staff across Wales are taking part in a two day strike, from Monday until Tuesday. Unite members have walked out over pay and conditions, and the Welsh government say they are in talks with unions over a new pay deal, which will be balloted to members before strikes which are set to take place on 20th February.

Warren Gatlan’s return to the fray in welsh rugby got off to a horrible start as Wales were well beaten by Ireland at the Principality stadium. The Irish beat Wales 34 to 10, adding pressure onto the union after a shocking run of fixtures over the past year, and calls of mysogyny within the organisation, with the World Cup later on this year.

A proposed solar farm which aims to power the equivalent of a small town has had its application submitted. The development hopes to be built in the south of Rhondda Cynon Taff is said by the application to be of ‘national significance’.
