Als Basketballstar Scott (Common) sich eine Knieverletzung zuzieht, ist er auf die Hilfe der Physiotherapeutin Leslie Wright (Queen Latifah) angewiesen, deren Bekanntschaft er vor einer Zeit gemacht hatte. Leslie ist ihrerseits ziemlich verschossen in den sympathischen Basketballprofi – eine unerwiderte Liebe. Zwar ist die Physiotherapeutin sympathisch, witzig und Basketballbegeistert, aber keine keine umwerfende Schönheit. Erst als Scott von der schönen Morgan (Paula Patton) aufgrund seiner, durch seine Verletzung stark geschrumpften Karriereaussichten verlassen wird, merkt er, dass er “just wright” will.
