Im von den Spaniern regierten Kalifornien wird der anscheinend verweichlichte Don Diego Vega von seinem Vater beauftragt, der hübschen Lolita, Tochter Don Alejandros, den Hof zu machen. Die zeigt sich erwartungsgemäß von den Avancen des immermüden Herren gar nicht beeindruckt, zumal ihr Herz schon längst für den mutigen Maskenmann Zorro entflammt ist. Der kämpft nicht nur im allgemeinen gegen die Unterdrücker, sondern hält ihr auch noch ganz speziell einen weiteren aufdringlichen Verehrer, Captain Ramon, vom Leibe.
