Street cleaners and refuse workers in Liverpool are set to strike. Liverpool Streetscene Services workers who are members of Unite union are taking industrial action on 23 and 28 January. Staff there are seeking a pay increase of 4% and an additional £1,000 to offset the cost of living crisis.

Plans have been announced for a memorial garden for Olivia Pratt-Korbel. The nine-year-old was shot and killed in her home in Dovecot in August. Local community groups hope to create the memorial on Kingsheath Avenue.

A woman who battered a vulnerable man has been jailed for his murder. Police say Cheryl O'Callaghan inflicted 'terrible' injuries on Adrian Swift in his home in Wavertree, Liverpool in March 2021. O'Callaghan, who denied murder, was handed a life sentence and ordered to serve a minimum of 18 years.
