40 monkeys found dead in Andhra Pradesh village

Carcasses of 40 monkeys were found in a forest area near Silagam village, Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The locals have alleged poisoning to be the reason behind the huge number of dead primates.

Murali Krishan, Kasibuga Forest officer of Srikakulam said, “Somebody brought the monkeys in a tractor and left them near the village forest area. Around 40 to 45 monkeys were found dead in this incident. Post mortem of these monkeys was conducted. Reports will come in 5 days."

A case was filed under the Animal Act and the police have assured culprits will be nabbed soon.
