When you think of Atlanta, music and Black excellence are not far behind. The city was recently home to the 7th Annual Black Music Honors at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.

Crooners Eric Bellinger and Avery Wilson lended their smooth, buttery vocals to honor music veteran Tevin Campbell by performing “I’m Ready” and the viral hit “Can We Talk.” Teen Prodigy Keedron Bryant also honored Campbell with his own rendition. Other performers who graced the stage with Twitter-worthy performances include Carl Thomas, Kevin Ross, Amber Riley, Sheléa and more who delivered unforgettable performances.

This spectacular night was filled with fashion and performances but most of all an evening where entertainers who made an impact on the music industry were given their flowers and placed in the Black Music Honors Class of 2022. LeToya Luckett joined comedian DeRay Davis as hosts of the ceremony.


Keri Hilson received the Music and Songwriter Icon Award. Gospel Duo Mary Mary was presented with the Gospel Icon Award; Tevin Campbell received the R&B Icon Award; Award-Winning Supergroup Dru Hill was recognized with the Urban Music Icon Award and graced the stage with a special performance in celebration of their 25th anniversary including seven of the group's members; NAACP Image Award-Winning Singer Karyn White was honored with the Soul Music Award, and the Legendary R&B Group The Whispers took home the Legends Award for their incredible nearly six-decade music career.



The show opened with performances by Kid N’ Play, Carl Thomas, Zonnique, Dondria Nicole, Dionne Ferris, Amber Riley, Eric Bellinger, Avery Wilson, PJ Morton, Jade Novah, Keedron Bryant, Ahjah and Rhea Walls from The Walls Group, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Crystal Aikin, Sheléa, Kevin Ross and Eric Roberson.
