Milt Shaw & His Detroiters-Where The Shy Little Violets Grow

About this band, hardly anything is known. Originally, it was a college band formed in 1925 by Frank Winegar. In June 1927 Milt Shaw became the leader of this band. They took off for Michigan, there to become Milt Shaw's Detroiters. That's about all I could find out! This great record was made in 1928. Leader Milt Shaw also played the violin. The lovely vocal is by the apparently ubiquous Harold "Scrappy" Lambert. Further personnel included: Ruby Weinstein and Johnny McGhee (t); George Troup (tb); Lyle Bowen and Aaron Voloshin (cla as); Hymie Wolfson (cl ts); Dippy d'Ippollito (p); Bill Barford (bj); Will Simmerall (d). It should be noted that I find no pictures of the band itself.
