Jamul – Jamul 1970 (USA, Hard/Southern Rock)

The only album from San Diego, California, formerly known as The Jamul City Funk Band. Jamul is the name of a town near the Mexican border. Ron Armstrong previously played with The Misfits, Desnoyers, The Friendly Grin, and Steve Williams with Puzzle and The Voxmen. “The Jamul City Funk Band” was a trio a few months before the recording, but then Williams joined them. This allowed the band to use multiple vocalists both in polyphony and on each individual track. When the band signed a contract with Gabriel Mekler, who produced "Steppenwolf", they shortened their name to "Jamul" at his insistence. The disc was sold in 1970 in the amount of 75,000 copies, but this success was not followed by a real breakthrough. The group lost management in 1971 and the collapse was not long in coming.
