भाद्रपद मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि को गणेश चतुर्थी का पर्व देशभर में मनाया जाता है। इस बार यह पर्व 31 अगस्त दिन बुधवार को मनाया जाएगा। धर्म ग्रंथों के अनुसार, इस दिन भगवान गणेश का प्राकट्य हुआ था। गणेश चतुर्थी के दिन घरों में भगवान गणेश की मूर्ति की स्थापना की जाती है और अनंत चतुर्दशी के दिन विसर्जन किया जाता है। अर्थात 31 अगस्त को गणेश स्थापना की जाएगी और 10 दिन बाद यानी 9 सितंबर को विसर्जन किया जाएगा। 10 दिन चलने वाले इस त्योहार में बप्पा की पूजा की जाती है और भोग लगाया जाता है। मान्यता है कि जो व्यक्ति गणेश चतुर्थी के दिन सच्चे मन से पूजा करता है, भगवान उसकी सभी मनोकामनाएं पूरी करते हैं।
