Govt: Thor banned in Malaysia over 'LGBT elements'

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin confirmed that Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ did not pass the country’s censorship guidelines.

He said that the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia (LPF) did not approve the film due to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) elements.

“Recently there was a film that did not pass censorship, that is the new Thor film.

“(The movie) touched on LGBT issues but we see right now there are many films with LGBT elements that slip past the censorship,” Zahidi said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Negara yesterday.
