Bizarre Moment Fury as Chinese influencer, Vlogger Goes Viral after Eating a Giant Great White Shark

A Chinese influencer is under police investigation after a clip of her grilling and eating a great white shark went viral.

Footage of the vlogger, popularly known by her online pseudonym Tizi, showed her feasting on the predatory fish, which police in the central city of Nanchong confirmed on Sunday was a great white shark.

"It may seem cruel, but its meat is really very tender," Tizi said as she ripped large chunks of roast meat from the animal, in a video posted in mid-July.

In the since-deleted video, she is seen unwrapping a six-foot-long fish and lying down next to it to show that he is taller than her.

The shark is then cut in half, marinated and grilled, while the head is cooked in a spicy broth.

Great white sharks are listed as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, just one step short of being classified as endangered.

Shark populations, some of the oceans' top predators, have been hit hard in recent decades, with finning and industrial longline fishing the main culprits.

In China, they are listed as protected. Illegal possession can result in a prison sentence of five to ten years.

'These uncultured attention-mongers will stoop a lot to attract attention!' another said.

It is unclear whether Tizi, who has almost eight million followers, will be punished.

She told local media that she acquired the shark through "legal channels", but the local agriculture office said on Monday that her claim was "inconsistent with the facts" and that police were investigating.

Dried baby shark meat is used as cat food in China and can be purchased from many online stores.

Chinese state media has long waged war against viral binge videos, known by the Korean slang 'mukbang', while live streaming platforms have promised for years to shut down accounts that promote overeating and binge eating. food waste.
