Regarding this recording, references tend to credit Louis Armstrong & "His" Orchestra, although the orchestra playing at that time actually was Russell's. Anyhow, Russell, born in Panama but active in the States from 1925, led an excellent band from 1926 till 1935, when Louis Armstrong took over the orchestra. From then on, the band functioned as back-up for Armstrong's orchestra. This refined record with superb vibraphone obbligato was made in 1930.
