Unilateral attempts to change LAC won't be countenanced by India: EAM Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on July 12 took a strong stance on the India-China border issue and said that any unilateral attempt to change the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will not be "countenanced" by India.

Addressing a Press Conference, Jaishankar said, “In the last two years, we have been very clear and very effective in ensuring that no attempt to change the status quo unilaterally on the line of actual control will be done by us. There are discussions going on between our side and the Chinese side.”

“These relate to friction points where we're closely deployed vis-à-vis each other. Focus is to see whether disengagement on those fiction points is possible. In last year, there were substantial disengagement & there're still some issues where both sides are closely deployed,” he added.
