Butterflies tend to disappear in the UK!
According to the Butterfly Conservation association, of the 62 butterfly species studied 4 have already disappeared at the regional level.
Of the remaining 58 species, 24 are threatened with extinction or are likely to become likely to disappear.
5 other species have been classified as "near threatened".
The factors: nitrogen pollution from agriculture and climate change.
If the British butterflies were already the most threatened in Europe, the situation is even more dramatic than the last assessment in 2011 as 5 additional species are now threatened with extinction, an increase of 26%.
The good news is that some species are no longer threatened with extinction thanks to conservation programs.
This is the case, for example, of the wild blue (Phengaris arion), a species that became extinct in the United Kingdom in 1979.but which was reintroduced later or the pearly medium (Fabriciana adippe).
