Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti is celebrated annually. It is also called Vesak or Vaishaka. The festival falls on the day of the Full Moon in the month of April or May. The festival is celebrated by Buddhists and Hindus across the country & in nations like Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia as well. The celebration is observed as the birth anniversary and date enlightenment. Gautama Buddha was an ascetic and spiritual teacher of South Asia.
