aaj bhi sun rahe hain qissa-e-ishq
go kahani bahut purani hai

zabt kije to dil hai angara
aur agar roiye to pani hai

KHud-kushi par hai aaj aamada
are duniya baDi diwani hai

koi izhaar-e-na-KHushi bhi nahin
bad-gumani si bad-gumani hai

suni duniya mein ab to main hun aur
matam-e-ishq-e-an-jahani hai

kuchh na puchho 'firaq' ahd-e-shabab
raat hai nind hai kahani hai

آج بھی سن رہے ہیں قصۂ عشق
گو کہانی بہت پرانی ہے

ضبط کیجے تو دل ہے انگارا
اور اگر روئیے تو پانی ہے

خودکشی پر ہے آج آمادہ
ارے دنیا بڑی دوانی ہے

کوئی اظہار ناخوشی بھی نہیں
بد گمانی سی بد گمانی ہے

سونی دنیا میں اب تو میں ہوں اور
ماتم عشق آنجہانی ہے

کچھ نہ پوچھو فراقؔ عہد شباب
رات ہے نیند ہے کہانی ہے
