bayan-e-shama hai hasil yahi hai jalne ka
fana ki kaifiyaten dekh jhilmilane mein

gharaz ki kaT diye zindagi ke din ai dost
wo teri yaad mein hon ya tujhe bhulane mein

hamin hain gul hamin bulbul hamin hawa-e-chaman
'firaq' KHwab ye dekha hai qaid-KHane mein

بیان شمع ہے حاصل یہی ہے جلنے کا
فنا کی کیفیتیں دیکھ جھلملانے میں

غرض کہ کاٹ دیے زندگی کے دن اے دوست
وہ تیری یاد میں ہوں یا تجھے بھلانے میں

ہمیں ہیں گل ہمیں بلبل ہمیں ہوائے چمن
فراقؔ خواب یہ دیکھا ہے قید خانے میں
