According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Falgun Krishna Paksha. On this day, along with worshiping Lord Shiva according to the law, devotees also keep a fast. This time Mahashivratri is falling on 1st March. It is believed that worshiping Lord Shiva on this day along with doing Rudrabhishek gets rid of all the troubles and fulfills all the wishes. At the same time, this year Panchak is starting from the day of Mahashivratri. It is forbidden to do some work from the beginning of Panchak till the next five days.Panchak will start from 4:31 pm on March 1 and will last till 2:29 in the morning of March 6.Panchak resides from Dhanishta to Revathi Nakshatra and during this time it is forbidden to build the roof of the house, collect wood, make or take cots, beds. Doing this during this time does not give auspicious results for all of them.

हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार, फाल्गुन कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि को महाशिवरात्रि का पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस दिन भगवान शिव की विधि-विधान से पूजा-अर्चना के साथ-साथ भक्त व्रत भी रखते हैं। इस बार महाशिवरात्रि 1 मार्च को पड़ रही है। मान्यता है कि इस दिन भगवान शिव की पूजा करने के साथ रुद्राभिषेक करने से सभी कष्टों से छुटकारा मिलने के साथ सभी इच्छाएं पूरी होती है। वहीं इस साल महाशिवरात्रि के दिन से ही पंचक शुरू हो रहे हैं। पंचक शुरू से लेकर अगले पांच दिनों तक कुछ काम करने की मनाही होती है। पंचक 1 मार्च को शाम 4 बजकर 31 मिनट से शुरू होकर 6 मार्च तड़के 2 बजकर 29 मिनट तक रहेंगे।धनिष्ठा से लेकर रेवती नक्षत्र तक पंचक रहते है और इस दौरान घर की छत बनाना, लकड़ी इकठ्ठी करना, चारपाई, बेड बनवाना या लेना वर्जित होता है | इस दौरान ऐसा करने से इन सबके शुभ परिणाम नहीं मिलते है।
