Synopsis: Gloria Tatlock is a beautiful girl from Massachusetts who leaves her town to become a lay missionary in China in 1937. One day a shipment of opium for medical use to be used for the care of her patients disappears. To get Gloria back, she hires Glendon Wasey, an adventurer looking for the quickest way to get the money to return to the United States immediately. But as the news spreads in Shanghai, the two become the target of local criminals, who are also looking for opium.
