Hello there! This is a LifeStyle Commercial Photoshoot BTS.
This video is for you to get some inspiration and to help improve some of your photography skills.
The Photoshoot took place in a beautiful location here in Maassluis, a city near to Rotterdam, Netherlands.
I have shoot with natural light and a bit of back light although the sun was most of the time behind the clouds, this works best in this type of situation in order to get genuine and spontain results.
For this shoot I used most of the time the 50mm 1.4 prime Canon along with Canon Eos R with the EF adaptor and also the Canon 85mm 1.8 for some of the shoots.
My camera settings was set on Manual mode, using it around 1/800 and above, high enough shutter speed to freeze the action. The ISO at 200 for low noise but also keeping my shutter speed above 1/500.
I have shoot it pretty open at 2.8 although in this situation with more then two persons in the frame and a stroller is better to shoot around F5 to get everyone in focus. I have used the 50mm more then the 85mm, and that because sometimes is too long to get everyone in the frame and also I am too far away that makes it a bit harder to communicate with the models. Now for every other situation the camera settings will be different that because of the different light scenario.
As a photographer, I have to make sure that my gear is ready to shoot and I don’t waste anyones time. I have also a backup camera, enough fast memory cards and extra fully charged batteries.
The product here is obvious, a green baby stroller from Joolz. But To make this shoot more realistic as a life style shoot we had to add people in it. On this shoot I am working with Gerijane and Caroline an amazing stylist and graphic designer and of course the parents with the child witch are all models.
That does not mean you can’t work also with real parents, but if you want the best results, models can help a lot because they have more experience in the field and that will make the whole process go much much smoother.
I have to constantly communicate with the models so they know exactly what I want and also complimenting them will help them a lot doing their best. Of course with a baby in a stroller is a different story. I need to think my composition fast because the babies after 30 minute or 1 hour they get tired and they need to eat and to be changed.
What is so nice about the location is that on the right side is a big river and also this amazing ships along the shore and gives a nice luxury feeling to the overall images.
For every shoot the key is also to tell a story with your images especially if they will be used in a editorial magazine or on different add campaign.
I really enjoyed to do this life styled commercial shoot shoot and I am happy with the final results.
