I see this news story about the Orwell estate authorizing a 1984 "rewrite" and how Orwellian that is. How George Orwell is rolling over in his grave. I then read the stories about it. What the supposed rewrite is, is the telling of Julia's story. So in other words they are not rewriting 1984 they are telling the other half of the story. A part of the story that once you get to the end of the book kind makes you want to know more. What the heck was she doing this whole time when Winston was off doing his thing. The outrage mob is easy to spin up all you need is a headline. must be a slow news week. I also think it is not the best timing to tell the other half of the story in that it COULD look Orwellian but I feel like this one is a whole bunch of nothing for a headline.
