Children are being suspended from schools in the Canterbury district

Children as young as five are being suspended from schools in the Canterbury district.

An exclusive investigation by the Kentish Gazette's revealed almost a thousand exclusions were given out at secondary and primary schools last year in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable and Faversham.

The most common reasons for these suspensions were persistent disruptive behaviour and verbal abuse directed towards adults.
