Proxy Voting: All about the Lok Sabha bill on NRI voting rights

Lok Sabha passed an amendment to the Representation of People’s Act in the Monsoon session 2018. This new bill includes voting right to those not residing in India, I.e., Non Residents of India. The bill was introduced in the Parliament after few writ petitions were filed in the Supreme Court by NRIs. Election Commission formed a 12-member committee which then reached out six political parties. As a fact, all the parties except for BJP opposed the bill. The bill suggests various methods to cast votes through proxies. But… what is proxy voting?
