The festival of Rakhi is considered on the full moon of Shravan month. On this day sisters tie rakhi on their brother's wrist. On this day sister ties Rakhi on brother's wrist and prays for his long life, while brother also vows to protect his sister. After that the brothers give gifts to their sister. Rakhi should always be tied on the right wrist of the brother. In Hinduism, the right hand has always been considered auspicious. Therefore, it is always considered auspicious to do worship or auspicious work with the right hand. It is believed that by tying the Raksha Sutra, the blessings of Brahma Vishnu, Mahesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Durga are all received. This is the reason why Rakhi should always be tied in the right hand.

श्रावण मास की पूर्णिमा पर राखी का त्योहार माना जाता है। इस दिन बहने अपने भाई की कलाई पर राखी बांधती है। इस दिन बहन भाई की कलाई पर राखी बांधकर उनके लम्बी उम्र की कामना करती है वहीं भाई भी अपनी बहन की रक्षा का बचन लेता है। उसके बाद भाई अपनी बहन को उपहार देते हैं। हमेशा भाई के दाहिने कलाई पर राखी बांधनी चाहिए। हिंदू धर्म में हमेशा दांए हाथ को शुभ माना गया है। इसलिए पूजा-पाठ या शुभ काम हमेशा दाहिने हाथ से करना शुभ माना जाता है। मान्यता है कि रक्षा सूत्र बांधने से ब्रह्मा विष्णु, महेश, लक्ष्मी, सरस्वती और दुर्गा सभी का आर्शीवाद प्राप्त होता है। यही वजह है कि राखी हमेशा दाएं हाथ में बांधा जाना जाना चाहिए।
