Om Birla, M Venkaiah Naidu On Monsoon Session Of Parliament: Naidu Breaks Down, Slams Opposition For The Chaos

M Venkaiah Naidu, Rajya Sabha Chairman broke down on August 11 in the House. Naidu was reading out a statement condemning what he called "sacrilege" and violation of the "temple of democracy" by the opposition. Opposition leaders on August 10 climbed the officials' table at the centre of the Rajya Sabha. Naidu described the parliament as a temple of democracy and the centre of the house as the "holy sanctum sanctorum". The Vice President said, "I have no words to convey my anguish and to condemn such acts as I spent a sleepless night...last night.” He then broke down. By the time Naidu was wrapping his statement, the opposition had gathered around the table, shouting slogans. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh targeted Naidu in a tweet but did not name him.
