Tokyo Olympics: Elavenil Valarivan, Apurvi Chandela fail to qualify for finals

India's shooting team at the Tokyo Olympics got off to a disappointing start as World No. 1 Elavenil Valarivan and world-record holder Apurvi Chandela finished well outside the qualifying spots in the Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification event on Saturday.
Elavenial Valarivan finished 16th in the 50-woman qualification field with a score of 626.5. Only the top 8 shooters from the highly competitive field qualified for the final and Elavenil missed the mark by 2 points as Russia's Galasina Anastasiia took the final qualifying spot with 628.5.
