36 dead in Raigad landslide, over 30 feared trapped

The IMD on Friday predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers in Mumbai and nearby areas. Also, very heavy rainfall are likely to occur over isolated places, the weather department said. As heavy rains continue to pound Mumbai and other areas of Maharashtra, incidents of landslide and heavy flooding were reported in several districts late Thursday. As of now, 36 people have been reported dead in Mahad tehsil of Raigad district in Maharashtra after the area was hit by landslide on Thursday evening. Three different landslide incidents took place in the nearby area.
