URBAN FLOODING RESCUE UNIT OF SECURITY DIVISION READY TO COPE EMERGENCY SITUATIONS DURING MONSOON SEASON
Meteorological Department has predicted that Karachi is expected to receive more rainfall than usual during the upcoming monsoon season.
Viewing the fact, Security & Emergency Services Division, under the supervision of DIG Security Maqsood Ahmed has constituted a ‘Urban Flooding Rescue Unit’ to overcome any emergency or flooded situation in the metropolis.
Urban Flooding Rescue Unit was recently inaugurated by Addl. IGP Karachi Imran Yaqoob Minhas. The unit comprises SSU commandos equipped with the latest rescue gadgets and small boats which will stay alert round-the-clock to respond to any situation during heavy rainfalls.
DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed on the occasion said that commandos of the Urban Flooding Rescue Unit have passed out from a lifeguard training given by the professionals.
A practical demonstration of rescuing people strangled in water was also exhibited by the unit.
